Which do you prefer? Why?
Which one do you think will finally put Nintendo out of business, or do you think a roaring comeback is on the horizon?
As an avid Microsoft supporter, Xbox is my console of choice. It is great for my household, the advancements in motion-capture and voice commands, and once the library starts building it'll be unstoppable.

Nice thought, but no. As an avid gamer of all systems, I can say without reservation that the console is now the master of the game world for one huge reason: specialization. The console was bred for nothing but games, and the hardware (albeit out of date from the day it is released) never changes, meaning developers can focus on game development in place of hardware support structure; more time spent on game play makes for more polished games. It is also easier to load up a game, play a quick match, then shut down again for "gamers-on-the-go" which is the vast majority of gamers in our fast paced world of "I want it now!".
Still love playing my computer games, but the console is now outpacing the computer in every scale with regards to gaming. Put it this way: you have $1,000 to spend. Would you rather buy an Xbox One/PS4 and 10 games, or a mid-level computer and one game? From a gaming standpoint, the console is the better value, even if the computer has better graphics and a rich interface as well as being multi-purpose.
To be fair, it falls to personal preference...but the days of "PC master race!" are no more.

The top of the line model is $900 and it only comes with 8gb of memory? I can build a comparable PC with a 1 TB hard drive for right around that price.

Don't get me wrong , its a great innovation but you can still use a controller with PC.

PO3 Brendan "Smitty" Smith 8GB of memory and a 1TB hard drive are two entirely different components that affect different portions of the system. RAM is performance, hard drives are storage capacity.
Pricewatch.com is a good resource to build a computer; could probably get 16 GB of RAM, a 1TB SATA and a 500GB SSD for less than $500 if you shop around.

My daughter has the Wii....not Wii U. MY "go-to" system still involves Flippers and Bumpers....

I would like to build a rig sometime in the near future, but right now I'm sticking with my Lenovo Ideapad Y580. I plan on upgrading, possibly this tax season, but once I get out of college, get hired, and my kiddos get old enough I'm going to construct a water-cooled SLI monster.

Once I get back from this deployment, I plan on cannibalizing my Alienware and building a custom rig. Probably go Steampunk for the theme.

I chose the Nintendo Wii U for one game: Â Bayonetta 2. Â I've found that it's the library that makes the console, not the console itself. Â I bought the Sega Dreamcast for one game, King of Fighters 99 Dream Match. Â What's the use of having the most powerful system on the market when you don't have any games that people want to play?

Great point, and a valid one at that. Xbone has had zero exclusives that I'd care to paly, while PS4 has Bloodborne (which I loved). But the Wii U tends to get far more playtime

Wii U.
Best exclusives by far, and more family titles. They also have the "hard core" games like Donkey Kong and Smash Brothers. Great console, I play it far more often than my PS4.

I actually really enjoy my Wii U. The family plays it a lot. It really is an underrated system.

I'm an old school PS fan (from the original PS and PS2) but I admit the cost of PS3 and PS4 kept me from keeping up. I played the Xbox a few times but the controller was too foreign to my PS hands, LOL. I also have an earlier version of the Wii in my home, their library has more kid friendly and family friendly games. I don't see Nintendo going away, they have a good little niche, just need to make some improvements. As for PS and Xbox, the market will continue to support both, much like it has with PC vs Mac, iPhone vs everybody else.

Love old PS. Thats why I adore PS3 and 4; lots of the old titles cheap. Then I put em on my Vita...

The first console I ever bought was the Wii. But I recently purchased PS3 and I love it. The toggles line up on the bottom of the controller that is much more comfortable for me to use. My younger sister has the XBOX. We are a diversified family when it comes to gaming.
