Is it me, or does the Army logo look extremely commercial. Along with our slogan "Army Strong," I understand that it's main goal is to stick out to the public and bring in talented young people who wish to sign up. But why can't we have something "cooler?" Thoughts?

Army of One, Army Strong, whatever the hell is next. It's all stupid as hell. The logo should be nothing more than a star, or a star with a bugle on it, or the American flag for God's sake. It doesn't need to look like we are an athletic apparel company. Matter of fact, we don't even need a logo. It's the damn army, the logo can say U.S. Army in block lettering. We don't need a motto either. Everyone knows what the Army is. When you get to basic training we will issue you a motto: "Leave your pathetic life behind and grow the f**k up so you can do something for someone else for a change." End of motto.

What's to say that one's life was pathetic or lacked selflessness prior to joining the Army?

Believe it or not we need support from the POSs that we "serve" aka the other 99% of the country. So being PC may not be super relevant to you but public opinion and support of an organization that helps to represent the entire nation to other nations is quite important. We can't just have this "shoot, move, communicate, kill and piss off if you disagree" mentality. That's ignorant and dangerous to the future of the Army

Everyone who shows up in the Army is selfish prior to arrival. Most of them are still selfish when they leave. And everyone's life is pathetic before the Army, because it's the greatest organization on earth.

It needs to go back to Be all you can be. I personally think that was the best one.

Yes, by far the best so far. I originally joined under that slogan.

Agreed, SFC (Join to see)! When I enlisted on 9AUG70, it was "Look Sharp, Be Sharp, Go Army", which was clearly a knock off of the Gillette razor commerical that first aired in the early fifties (Look Sharp, Feel Sharp, Be Sharp).
If the Army is going to use a poster they ought to go back to the one first used in 1916!

I think it should be the nice Army Star Logo (the one in the square). Under that, in the rectangle "TBA" - Today's Battlespace Army. That way when someone decides to change it again, it just becomes To Be Announced.

The Army no longer uses the term battlespace. It was rescinded years ago and replaced with Operating Environment.

Great response, and you know I can see that happening. The Army doesn't have the cool and longest lasting recruiting motto that the Marines have.

Yeah, I mean why can't the Army have a cool video of Soldiers going around slaying dragons and lava monsters. With the "Be All You can Be" slogan. Who the hell doesn't want to slay dragons and lava monsters?
