Most civilians are not trained/ organized/numerous enough to stop police or military units.
Jews with guns would have been shot if they resisted, and after an incident or two, it would have just meant these German officials would have more force in the first place, and be less "nice" than they were historically.

On a side note, there was little "gun control" in Germany at the time. German society was orderly enough where the only people who wanted guns were hunters, and the very rare criminals. Laws and gun control laws are (should be) for only the lawless. It can be and is this way in societies without criminals/much crime. Japan is an example. Most of the US was too, until it started declining in the late 1980's.

Sgt Tom Cunnally, IMHO, Ben Carson doesn't have a clue what would have been the outcome. One day he says, relating to the latest school shooting, "I wouldn't just stand there and get shot!" I would say, come on people, there are more of us than them, let's take him down. I might get shot but it would prevent anyone else being shot." Then I read, Carson is in a restaurant and an armed thief tells him to give him all of his money. Carson says, " I'm not the one you want, it's that guy behind the counter." I have lost a lot of respect for him. He needs to quit acting like we live in never never land, and everything is just peachy.
Armed civilians wouldn't have been successful in thwarting Hitler. If we were at war with a terrorist like Hitler, we wouldn't stand a chance of defeating an enemy. The enemy, Hitler, had all the fire power and followers he needed to overthrow his own country and surrounding countries. Even if weapons were not taken away, Hitler would have still been able to attempt to kill all of the Jews. I don't think it would have been called the holocaust, I think it would have been called a massacre.

My answer was 'No' but it's a qualified no. What caused the Holocaust was a sick man in Hitler taking advantage of chaos and rampant anti-Semitism in Germany to scapegoat Jews and then murder them. A small group fighting the full power of a state, especially a powerful one such as Germany, is going to find it very tough to win in the long run as the experience of the Warsaw ghetto uprising demonstrated. However, if nothing else, the Jews being armed would've made the Holocaust a much more expensive proposition for the Nazis. Whether that deterrence would've been enough to stop a Hitler from trying it is doubtful but I would also doubt that the numbers of Jews killed would've been as high had they been able to at least attempt resistance.

Control health care. Take all guns. Now you have global warming nuts wanting to do away with oil. You do all that you have a controled population that cant protect its self. Have to eat and do what they say or no health care. No oil means no gas. Population cant move around. A controlled environment.
