Yes, and almost rolled several M151 gun jeeps when I was a scout.

No, no seat belts at the time, just the canvas seat pads and a pindle mount for an M60. Later on, they put in roll bars, you had to keep the top on, and there was webbing on the side to keep you in. I've attached pics from the web to illustrate the types, although when I was in a gun jeep, they were painted in woodland camo.

Capt Gregory Prickett - Gun Jeep? Tow mounted? I do not have a photo of a 106/105 RR Gun Jeep.

I never personally saw a 106RR on a jeep, when I got in, the airborne brigade I was in had already been issued the TOWs on jeeps. I saw both the 90RR and the 106RR (and fired the 90), but that was it. Both were gone in a year or so.

Here's a photo of a 106mm RR mounted on a quarter ton jeep. They were the loudest guns I ever fired. The concussion from the firing of the 106 was deafening. Capt Gregory Prickett CSM Charles Hayden Sgt Tom Cunnally

I drove this oldie but goodie around Boston College last year and shook up the world with the 50 Cal as my back seat companion. I got asked recently " Did you hear about some crazy old Jarhead who drove a jeep around the campus with a heavy machine gun mounted in the back?" And I said "Yes it was me and I am not crazy just different"

The Jesuit Rector at BC told me "Don't do that again you had the campus police very upset with that stunt"... I promised him I would not but it brought back a lot of memories. And the Rector is a former Navy Chaplain so he forgave me this time. Or else I could have been banned from the BC Campus.
So you could say I had Office Hours again & got off with just a slap on the wrist ..
