Seeing the SPC get a Company Grade for jumping with his fish is pretty high on the "awesome reason for an Article 15" list.... so what's you story?

I never received one. But, there was a SPC in my unit that went out in spectacular fashion. We deployed in 2006. Our battalion was divided up among the entire theater of operation. My unit was kept in Kuwait on Arifjan. Since I was SATCOM, I went to the SATCOM facility. We needed bodies, so this SPC was sent there as well. Due to his continually being late for duty, he was given an Article 15. He was given restriction, extra duty, and reduction to PFC. The reduction was suspended. About this same time, we didn't need him in our facility, so he was sent to the orderly room to work. Being as useless as he was, he spent most of his days escorting TCN's when they worked in the building. One day, my NCOIC saw him sitting on the floor in the hallway. He asked what the SPC was doing and he said that he was escorting TCN's. Our NCOIC further questioned the SPC asking how he was escorting the TCN's if he couldn't even see them. He was warned not to do it again. The very next day, our NCOIC found him doing the same thing in the exact same spot. The SPC received a negative counseling statement on the last day of his suspension, causing him to lose rank and become a PFC.
Fast forward a few weeks, This PFC was arrested by the MP's for smoking marijuana in a government vehicle on Arifjan. He was picked up by the 1SG and went back to work. A week or so later, he was found in the latrine passed out from huffing canned air.
By this time, he was desperate to get out of trouble. He went to the chaplain to ask for help in getting sent to Landstuhl for a mental evaluation. The chaplain basically told him to pound sand. After walking out of the chaplain's office, which was in the same hallway as the battalion command team, he stripped and ran around BN HQ naked as the day he was born.
The next day was his Article 32 hearing. The BN Commander determined he was a danger to himself and others and ordered pre-trial confinement. Guests of the Arifjan jail fill sand bags all day. At his court martial, he received 10 months in the Arifjan jail. The last I heard, he returned to Ft Gordon after he got out of jail and was kicked out of the Army.
After that deployment, I PCS'd to the school house at Ft Gordon as an instructor. I shared this story with all my students as an example of what not to do.

I don't think the students needed this example to know not to do this.

After my ETS I decided that I wanted to drive a tank, so I first enlisted in the MT ANG and 3 years later with the NV ANG during my last summer camp at Camp Roberts, Ca. I got headcount duty two days before we were to go back to Las Vegas and someone else drove my tank, this person obviously did not know how to read an oil dipstick and overfilled the crankcase by almost 1 gallon, when we went through the turn in at the depot I informed my Platoon leader about it, now, we were in a maintenance facility and they are supposed to have a little pump that can be used to suck the excess oil out but they did not have one so one of the E7s, can't remember his name (this was in 1982) handed me a little hose and told me to SUCK the oil out, I respectfully refused and he gave me a direct order, I refused again, they are a maintenance facility and are supposed to have that pump on hand, if they want someone to suck hot motor oil out by mouth get the idiot that overfilled it, by the time we got back to Las Vegas I was informed that I was getting an article 15, now, if this had been a combat situation I would've done anything to get that oil out so the engine performance would not be compromised after all a tank with a dead engine is a sitting duck but this was not the case, when I left the Armory that day it was the last time, I just quit, already had my 6 year obligation so I just said to hell with this BS. I got san Honorable discharge out of active duty and another from the Montana NG but that general discharge from the NVANG has been bugging me ever since, I did not deserve it, how could that moron expect someone to suck hot engine oil out of a tank's engine using his mouth?

I never received an Article 15, came close, because of my ex-wife. But, knew someone that found a dead Pigeon, tied a noose around its neck and wrote a suicide note for it.....

Had a similar thing when I was a very young 2LT in USAF (before USN) Was coming back from a night out in Biloxi (Keesler)and stopped to assist a car crash that went on fire. Pulled the kid out(he had JUST enlisted in USAF that week !) and as we were loading him into the ambulance, a discussion arose about what hospital to take him to. Keesler was a lot closer than the nearest civ hospital, and the kid had bled a lot(all over me. Tore up my shirt to use as a bandage.) I said he should go to Keesler. The Biloxi cop didn't like that I disagreed with him. I didn't know it, but he went back to the station and filed "Obstruction of Justice" charges on me! I got a call two nights later from the kid's father (AF Civ/Reservist) telling me not to leave the base, as the cops were looking for me!! The kid had told his father while in the hospital about the AF LT who helped him. The father called the cops to try to get my name to THANK ME-and they told him they wanted to arrest me!!!The Father was great -went down and got a copy of the warrant for my arrest. I got it the following year with my first AF Commendation Medal for probably saving the kid's life!! I keep the warrant with the citation. Always makes me laugh.

I almost got one for something I didn't do. So no shit{this is a pun, read on} , there I was, on the banks of the Mississippi river doing a bridging exercise in '94 or '95. We had an e-5 squad leader that no one got along with, soldiers or his peers. In the middle of the night, someone took a dump on the hood of his 5-ton.
He got it into his head that even though I was 1 of about 6 people on guard duty that night, I HAD to be the one to do it. I was on his shit list that week, not for anything in particular, I was just up next in the rotation.
He pushed and pushed for the article 15, but it never went anywhere. Being a lowly e-4 , I wasn't privy to what was said higher up than me,or what squashed it but I was on his shit list until he pcs'ed to Korea. Makes me kinda wish I did the crime, would of made the punishment worth it.

I've never had one but my 1sg when I was a private got one for stealing an M113 and taking it to bars and strip clubs. Head busted down to E-1 twice in his career and still made E-8. It was a different army back then.

The day I was promoted to SPC I received my acceptance letter to west point. (Apparently it wasn't random, two full birds put their names on the line by recommending me, but that's another story) that night we celebrated with a bottle of erk n jerk (E&J), apparently, in my drunken stupor, we decided it was a great idea to go to the POG barracks and play knock knock knockout. MPs we're called and everyone else jumped off the 2nd floor balcony (even drink I'm afraid of heights). I ran into the day room and pretended to be asleep. An MP came in and did a sternum rub on me, I jumped up to him saying "this is what's going to happen...." I swing, he stumbles, I tackle him and begin to serve him the two piece repeatedly. Little did I know they move like raptors, two other guys came in and beat the fire out of me. Now cuffed, I am escorted down the steps to which they say I slipped down (I still believe they pushed me down) bruised up in left on the curb as they get witness statements, I notice they weren't looking and I ran towards my barracks, as I'm sprinting across the field guy in my unit see me coming and tell me to not look back while they run to get the guy who had bolt cutters. I look back like a jackass and fall (hands behind me). I get up and keep going but get tackled into a gravel pit in front of the barracks steps. I wake up in the hospital with a catheter and zip tied to the bed. I had allegedly kicked the nurse when she put the catheter in. And tried to escape. When I looked around my BDE cmdr and CSM were in front of me. I was read my Article 15 still in a hospital gown. 45/45. I'm surprised I want kicked out. Many charges were dropped because me at 135lbs beat the crap out of a 195lbs sober MP. The following work day my unit held a demotion ceremony where my collars were cut off because I needed to warm back my PVT/E1 rank. Fun times. Fast forward 16 years and I've been an FSNCO at BN level topped out at SSG. I wonder why.....

Put on Report Once "Not Reporting an Offense" My Roommates Girlfriend in Our Room in Bed with him. Referred back to Department for Correction. Should have been put on Report another time for Conducting Maintenance on a Piece of Equipment without Proper Tag Out Procedures, Once again referred back to Division. As Master at Arms to Chief of Staff Commander Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command presented a few Admirals Mast (Article 15) Cases to the Rear Admiral. An Experience I wasn't real fond of, Standing next to an idiot while the Admiral Hollered at Him.

This is no joke. When I went to Saudi for Operation Southern Watch in the mid to late 90's, there was a general order on base PSAB that said no sex. Anyone caught received article 15's. Of course we had a married couple deployed with us and guess what. They got caught and received Article 15's. For every one given, there must have been at least 100 that did not get caught.
