For those who were in the service or had a spouse in the service when they got married did you have a military wedding? Why or why not?

I did have a military wedding the last time. And by last, I mean the last time I got married, and the last time I will get married! I and all of my groomsmen were in dress blue uniform. Even the father of the bride wore his dress blues. We were married in the little white chapel on Gruber Road (just in front of the engineer motor pool) in Fort Bragg by my chaplain. We had our reception at the old NCO club (no longer there). My wife planned the whole thing while I was in Korea, and we got married during my mid-tour leave. She even bought her own ring, and I was upset because I felt it was too small of a diamond! My favorite picture was of my father-in-law, a retired SOF CSM with one of every ribbon and badge in the MCSS on his uniform, vacuuming the chapel in his dress blues after the wedding.

Yes I did! My wife wanted me in uniform and I would be the first in my family to get married "military style"

I had my guard soldiers do the saber arches. I have done it for several weddings, but many have not, so it is interesting to teach people how to draw sabers, and properly do the arch.
If you want a professional group of soldiers at your wedding, you definitely want an honor guard to do it who are really good at drill and ceremony.

I wore Dress Blues with Sword, my Spouse wore a beautiful white dress and everybody else wore and did exactly what Sgt. Spouse told them to. So in a sense it was a very Military wedding, Sword Arch etc.
In another sense it was very much a traditional Civilian Church Wedding.
But we had a lot of fun also, Mickey/Minnie Mouse hats for the rehearsal, Catered barbecue and beer(with engraved steins for the wedding party) under GP Large in the backyard.
Good Party!

Nope. The military got enough, the wedding was for my husband and I. Also I hated wearing the AF dress blues. Look like a stewardess. Mess dress was better once I could afford it!

I was married in one of the on post Chapels and it was administered by a chaplain. I did not wear a uniform but my Cav associates and I wore our Stetsons.

However, LTC (Join to see), I've been best man in a military wedding two times and each time it was for the same man!
