I was having a conversation with a stranger yesterday while riding the commuter train. He brought up the unfortunate shooting in Florida. Then he went on to ask me did I own any guns. I said to him yes I do. He then asked me do I feel guilty as a gun owner when such acts of violence occur. I told him absolutely not it's an unfortunate situation when something like that happens and I sympathize with the families. But it's no reason for me to feel guilty and give up my guns. Then he said that's what the Police are for to have guns to protect the citizens. I then said to him sir with all due respect to you, if you want to continue to talk to me lets change the subject. He then got up and changed his seat and said he didn't want to be associated with a gun owner. I just responded with a big LOL!
Peace!

SN Greg Wright - I laugh at white supremist also. Nobody, unless the have had extensive DNA analysis, has any idea what “races” they are. There was a “white “ family related to the Thomas Jefferson family via Sally Hemings.

Obviously some people do not know what the term Latino means. And someone that is Latino should not be surprised if they have European or even Jewish ancestry. It truly amazes me at times that people that claim that they are intelligent and educated prove how ignorant and stupid they are.
And for those considering taking one of these DNA, before you start, I would suggest creating for yourself a 5 generation family tree, that is as well documented as you can make it. When doing this DO NOT try to prove or disprove family legends or stories; those types of searches usually mislead or cause people to make connections that are not there.
Now to the best part of the DNA testing puzzle. Besides yourself, you will want to do testing on your parents, and a sibling of theirs that is of the opposite sex. This is the least expensive way of building the basic DNA picture of yourself, and making it as accurate as possible at that level.
This is another reason why you want to do at least a basic family tree to properly identify people and their proper relationship in the tree. Especially today, since for some of you your parents may have been married multiple times, and your father is not your father but your stepfather, you may know this but when creating your family tree place the correct person in the correct spot if possible, otherwise leave it blank until you can fill it in. You will have some surprises along the way, or if you have done your homework beforehand, you may well have already been surprised and the DNA results may not be so shocking. And for some, it may help you scale that brick wall that you have encountered and caused you to become discouraged with family history and genealogical research.

I like your comment. My wife and kids are conservatives just like me. Her whole family
Are Liberals and gun haters. Will I enjoyed talking to one of her Nephews he's feeling what its like to be discriminated against he's a señor in HS. And is tired of being hated and belittled in school for being a Male. Boy when ppl have to face the discrimination from their own side they sure change there believes in liberalism. PS my Wife is of Mexican decent. I really enjoy being able to share this. Young men of every race feeling they aren't being treated fairly sure will drive them to realize liberalism is a mental disorder.

Frankly, I wouldn't even respond to questions like that, one way or the other, SSgt Harvey "Skip" Porter. Firstly, it's none of that person's business as to whether I own any weapons or not. Secondly, it's none of that person's business as to whether I have any feelings of guilt, or not. Lastly, it's obvious to me he was simply baiting you, looking to get the result he wanted so that he could make a scene. Just another troll that should not be indulged. Trying to enlighten or argue intelligently with someone like that is akin to conversing with a rock. Yes, your observation is very good and I am throwing in a veiled reference to Star wars for a touch of humor. No disrespect intended sir.

LTC Jeff Shearer, I’m not so very sure about the mature part. Basically, I’m just old! Thanks for the compliment, though!

No, as a gun and rifle owner, I do not feel guilty, and neither should the other law abiding citizens that happen to own guns and rifles. In the Florida shooting, law enforcement did not enter the building and failed in their duty. There were many warning signs that were ignored. Can we do more to keep guns out of the hands of those with mental issues - yes. Can we lay part of the blame on violent movies and video games - yes. Can we place part of the blame on poor parenting - yes. Can we close the loopholes on background checks - yes. Can we enforce the gun laws on the books now - yes.

Ted thank you for bringing some practical sense to this issue. I could not have said it better.
