I believe we should support them. I came from in JROTC program in high school and I found it to be a particular benefit early and my military career.

When in HS JROTC we went to shooting ranges run by Regular Army and toured nearby installations. After I retired from the Army my son joined JROTC. Unlike my high school they had no functioning firearms except air rifles. When they scheduled range time I assisted at the range and supplied some rifles for the cadets to familiarize with.

Aye sir! Our MCL Detachment presents an annual award. We partner with them in our fund raising events so that they too can make some money. We attend some of their drill comps. Had their color guard post colors at our Marine Corps Birthday dinner. Of course the four of them got comp'ed their $40.00 ticket. Whenever we can, we like to celebrate our young students. The mission to help guide these kids to be productive and responsible citizens is an honorable one.

Our oldest son has been AFJROTC all 4 years of high school. He is now the armed IDR commander and member of the Cyber Patriot team. He is looking to join ROTC .in college as well. I think it is a wonderful organization. I know a lot of military members, both past and present, mock JROTC. Yes, there are those cadets who think JROTC is a direct line into the SF pipeline and pound their chest as such. Those are few and far between.
