'All across the country, right now, all across the world, at this very moment, there are young people coming to terms with being transgender. They’re learning that they’re different and they are trying to figure out how to handle that, on top of every other problem young people have.

'They’re getting bullied, they’re getting raped, they're getting beaten up, they’re getting murdered and they’re committing suicide. The numbers are staggering, but they are the reality of what it is like to be trans today.

'Just last month, the body of 17-year-old Mercedes Williamson, a transgendered young woman of color, was found in a field in Mississippi stabbed to death . . . and buried in her murder's back yard.

'Are we mature enough, do we care enough, can we stop the violence?

"Do Transgender People Have A Place In Our Society?"

Sure they do, no better, no less than anyone else. And no special privileges or protections, no less or more.
If they are attacked, find, prosecute, and penalize the attacker, no different than if a the victim was a school teacher, pipe fitter, Soldier or cop.
"Hate crime" statutes to me send the wrong signal... in that "there life" is more important than others. To which I disagree.
Murder is wrong and should be addressed if it happens, Gender identity or job field should not matter, not make it worse or less worse of a crime.

I would challenge you to look my wife in the eye and tell her how your rape is "worse" more of a crime, more important to be addressed, you protected, or vindicated because your Trans gender.
I would challenge you to look in to my eye and justify why the murder of your Trans friend, partner, coworker is "worse" more of a crime, more important to be addressed, or vindicated because they were Trans gender.
I submit to you, I would stand up for and fight off your attacker the same I would a straight persons, not because they are straight, and not because you’re not... But just because

Your wrong on this one. There is way to much special handling of these people.

They have the same place as anyone else with a mental health disorder - which is how both the American Psychiatric Association and the American Psychological Association characterized transgenderism for decades. They dropped that definition a few years ago, not because of new clinical research or anything else, just because the political ideology of their leaders changed. That isn;t enough for me to change the substance.

Maybe you did not know that the head psychiatrist was a gay mane and others. It was a bad tainted decision.

MCPO Roger Collins - I am very much aware of the butchering of that couple. Five blacks did it, as I recall. Oddly enough, no one then and very few since called it a hate crime. What was it then, just black jollies?

Since Republicans aren’t mentioned in the post. And you are the only one to ask. I assume you are trying to be cute.
I left RP along time ago. I got tired of The Navy guy who identifies as a women. And all his transgender post. When he started calling Christians Nazi’s. And admin said nothing. You have a Atheist who goes on a rant. A guy name Shirley who does it in all caps. Correcting spelling. A lot if liberals who hate Trump. And I can go on and on. I can only imagine the post about the NFL. And nothing to do with the military. RP is another version of FP.

Don't do that to yourself, that's the way uneducated people argue. I am a practicing Muslim and I don't believe gay people should be hung (the only mention of homosexuality in the Qur'an is actually the very common biblical story). Yes there are harsh consequences for "adulty", nothing different from what is in the Bible, the only difference is that the Qur'an actually say you must have "4" witnesses against the adultrer/adultress before the punishment can be given out.
As far as rights, women have plenty of rights in Islam. Let me just give one very good example. Well you know that women changed their last name to their husbands last name because the became "property" of men? And plenty of people still do that today. Over 1400 years ago, Islam abolished that for Muslims and said women should retain their own name in marriage. Oh how about the fact that the Qur'an even permits divoce and allows a divorced woman to remarry? Please educate yourself

I don't care if they do or don't. Just like I don't care if anyone else does or doesn't. Live and let live. I don't care how you identify in ANY of the categories (religious, sexual, race, etc) until you MAKE me care. Usually by cramming it down my throat. Then I care.

I don't feel people transitioning or transgender should be in the military. People with chronic depression are screened out, people who have to take daily prescriptions are screened out. They have to take hormones and anti depressants forever this should ban them from military service. If a diabetic cant join they cant join either. My wife was army she suffered from anxiety had to take meds for it daily she was medically discharged.

Jesse Bollar - "I don't feel people transitioning or transgender should be in the military."

What facts, personal experience, and tangible evidence did you use to come to your position of "I don't feel people transitioning or transgender should be in the military"
Accepting the assumption, all opinions are valid is not eh same as all opinions are justified or supported by anything more than feelings and personal bias.
So based on you having never served a day, having no personal experience of the stress and challenges of military life as a Soldier, Working in anything thing from a business like atmosphere.. To close knit group in survival mode living in an austere environment for days, weeks or months... What have you based your opinion on?

but you see opinions are just that not fact not fiction but ones personal beliefs and feelings placed as a statement. In previous statements I have described my personal experience. Where is your evidence to back your opinions. Look at my previous statements in this discussion I have discussed many sources that I have referenced. But my opinions are just that and as such don't need backing unless I claim all as fact. There are facts in my above statement. But my opinions are my own. I have also based my opinion on descriptions and conversations with family and friends who are service members you name the branch I have someone in it from coast guard to police force to emts and search and rescue, marines, army (Wife) , national Guard (Brother). My life has its own challenges to believe my opinion means less than your just makes you out to be another selfrighteous ass. I have never claimed my opinions and beliefs are better or worse or even argued with you guys. But my beliefs may be different sorry if we don't all think like you.

Some are just that, yours are for sure based on what you have provided..
But an opinion can also be fact based, or personally observed and irrefutable as tangible facts supporting ones opinion.
