Do we not have more important things to do then continue to mess with the uniforms.

LCDR (Join to see) There are many things more important than continuing to mess with trying to get the uniform right. Unfortunately, it is less effort to keep revisiting this issue than it is to deal with serious issues so they will continue to press on with this futility.

SFC Mark Merino PO3 Steven Sherrill I didn't see it either. I have it coming in the mail. I actually paid for a ticket and then left the theater before it started because of the same reasons you both mentioned :(. It was playing at a drive in here and I wish I had gone.

Where on earth did you find a functional drive in? Great memories as a kid. My position was on top of the station wagon on top of a blanket with my own speaker.

My wife and I watched it at Roadhouse Cinemas. Yes there were a few kids there but it wasn't bad at all.

I get that we need to revise things at times but yes it seems ridiculous. My biggest concern is when old uniform items are no longer authorized. I spent a lot of money updating uniforms over the years that are no longer wearable. That isn't as much of a concern for me as an O4, but I know the same thing has happened to many junior enlisted and that price feels like a waste even if the new uniforms are provided (which they aren't always).

It's funny you mention that CDR. As I'm typing this I'm wearing my old utility jacket that was authorized for wear with the utility uniform (precursor to the NWU).

CDR, I voted yes though there is SOME good coming from the new policy for active duty. I.e., less pairs of NWU's and sets of coveralls Sailors will be required to maintain.

I do agree PO1 John Miller that when you read the policy, especially the phase in period. It just seems like every few months we hear about another change and I think the money wasted on the people writing all this policy could be better spent like getting another carrier, more destroyers, rail guns, something other than telling people they can't wear coveralls.

While uniforms are important to each service, its getting out of hand. In 24 years of service I never met one single person who ever had participated in a survey for uniforms, makes one wonder where these decisions come from. That being said, I do not understand why someone always has to mess with perfectly good uniforms. Personally I despised the crackerjack uniform, it was and continues to be Navy tradition, because of those 13 buttons and stupid shoestring tie up on the backside. And the top was never easy to take off, drunk or sober. But still you wear your uniform with pride because I would say 99.99% of us take personal pride in how we look.

I also did 24 years and although I heard about the "Uniform board" every time they changed the uniform I also never knew anyone that had been on such a board.

I met a few people who wear tested a few prototype uniforms just before the NWU's came out.

General Officers need those blocks checked if they want the seat at the big table. If we can't find a way to defeat ISIS, we sure can change the uniform every 6 months.

Someone doesn't have anything better to do. Either someone is trying to live in infamy or needs to find some work to do!
