People in Ohio are in a Tither I am sure both Republican and Democrat but there is Plenty of Other stuff named for the 8 Presidents from Ohio. One less thing is no biggy. All the Folks both Republican and Democrat in Alaska Love it and the Native American Community Love it. I understand why the Gold Prospector that named it, named it what he did. Sucking up to President McKinley Both of them were interested in going from a Silver Standard to a Gold Standard for our Money. Like everything else Politics as Usual.

Yes, it had a name long before it was renamed. Not only that but this is what the people from Alaska want it to be named. This doesn't bother me and no one should be offended.

I do agree with the decision. I do however think more important things are or should be on the agenda.

So... He makes people in Alaska happy just before his trip, and annoys Ohio. Being from Pennsylvania, not seeing a downside.

Seems to be a lot of money being spent to boost a flagging legacy. Can you imagine how many travel documents, school books and other printed and media sources will be effected? What a display of Narcissism.

I'd say the Ohioans protesting this are the narcissists, thinking that they should be able to dictate the name of a mountain in someone else's state.....

Please explain how these folks are dictating the name of said mountain? That happened decades ago. Where were all the Denali supporters then? This is more bloviating from our C-in-C and using the opportunity to say look at me and BTW it is getting hot up here in the 57th state.

CPT (Servicemember) - First, your knowledge of the history of Mt. McKinley and the various naming schemes since first coming into prominence is extremely light. Do a little more research on the etymology of the so-called native word Denali. Basically, the word meant big, excellent name. Also, the previous owners of Alaska changed the name before we did. As to your racist comment, all I can say is "Please". Those that see racism behind every tree get wearisome and inane. BTW, those so-called natives were actually migrants, there are no original human natives to North America.

First of all does he even have the right to do this? Second of all what does this have to do with global warming and third what is the purpose of doing this?
Denali was the name given to this mountain by the native Indian tribe of Athabasca who were native to Canada and Southwest United States.
Just exactly what is he trying to prove?

When the Russian owned this territory, they gave it a name...after the US took over, the US gave it a name...

Why can't obarfma just leave things alone? WHY is obarfma ALL of the Suddenly wanting to reach out and show concern and befriend the ALASKAN natives? What's he really up to?

Done under a different motivation, at a different time, and through the correct channels (IDK, maybe the state legislature?)...I might be "for" this. As it stands, this is just another attempt to inflame tensions for political gain.

It seems like a political move to increase the President's standing with the Alaskan natives. I really believe there are much important things to worry about then the name of a mountain. Personally, it never should have been named Mt. McKinley in the first place, it's not even near Ohio!
