Sharia law in america
I want to know whether anyone believes that Islam in America demanding Sharia Law will work in America with our Constitution and Bill of Rights. With the growing Muslim population (both legally and illegally) and all of the special treatment they get regarding their religion as compared to any other in America are you worried about whether our Constitution will survive?

Please review the First Amendment. I agree with you that it stops the federal government from establishing a national religion like we suffered under England, but it does not separate the morality taught in the Bible from those who serve in elected offices. Don't you think America would be healthier if our leaders had a true moral compass and integrity to lead their decisions and votes instead of love of money, power and greed?

I believe religion is good at its core.I also believe it was a gift to guide us.Problem is that left unchecked it is easily manipulated and has the potential do harm to millions. To this day it's doing harm, because of power, greed, and corruption by all kinds of leaders especially religious. The 1st Admendment:establishment clause, prohibits the government from passing legislation to establish an official religion or preferring one over the other. The exercise clause:prohibits the government in"most instances"from interfering with a person's practice of their religion. It's all about how the 1st admendment was interpreted by the court, originally it was expressly applicable to the Congress not all the Federal Government. As far as morality of the Bible, the Supreme Court recognized that the government may prohibit some speech that may cause a breach of the peace,or cause violence. The Bible is a very violent book.

Why is this even a question? Is anyone at all... trying to push an agenda that claims it IS compatible? It seems to make about as much sense as asking "Do cats exist?"

Of course it isn't compatible ... they are different systems, based on entirely different premises.

Sir, the Muslim population is rapidly increasing in America. In Dearborn, MI they are already demanding Sharia Law. In Miami and Orlando that have held violent Hamas rallies. I feel it is an issue we should discuss now as we will have to deal with it inh the future if we do not fix it now!

OK, you do know that they can't have Sharia law, right? And that in Dearborn, "they" are not getting Sharia law, and that was a rumor started by a satirical article. There are a lot of Arabs in Dearborn, I know that, I'm from Detroit, and have family there. http://www.snopes.com/politics/satire/sharia.asp Just like any other demand that falls outside the law, and the Constitution of the US or the charter of constitution of the state and municipality ... the answer is "No." If it went to the Supreme Court, I don't expect they would even deign to consider the case.

Snopes is a joke. I evaluated their content and there is a lean though they or their users deny it. What else is new?

PO1 Steven Kuhn Watch this video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0xiKudoZhXc This really happened in California

I guess this is why America is a great place to live, because everyone is entitled to an opinion?

The same thing is happening in Tennessee, but the citizens here rose to the challenge. The TN Attorney General said any speech against Islam could be classified as hate speech and that the violators would be prosecuted. Christianity is attacked daily, and they have a radical Imam in Nashville spouting jihad and the killing of non Muslims in America for years, and no action has been taken against him.

PO1 Steven Kuhn That is crazy. How is it that people can publicly call on the murder of others because of beliefs? I guarantee that if a Christian leader stepped out on the curb and started calling for the execution of non-Christians in America, that leader would be in jail.

CMSgt James Nolan none the less, it is (sadly) true! A city in middle Tennessee asked him about it and he had no reply. They boo'd (spelling?) Him out of the town hall meeting. And there are 22 (actually 30) Muslim Terrorist training camps that our government has KNOW about for 2 plus years run by a radical Muslim responsible for attacks on Americans under the protection of our government, funded by your tax dollars, living large with his slaves and harem in NE US of A! Feel better yet? Oil rich nations have money. Politicians have greed. Do the math!

No, sharia law is not compatible with the constitution. If someone wants sharia law they should go live where sharia law is the law and not push it on us. Go to Saudia Arabia, go to Samalia, and be happy. Don't go away mad, just go away! Sharia law has not place here in the USA.

It cannot be.

The courts system in Sharia is completely different--there are no lawyers (bad thing?) plaintiffs and defendants represent themselves, there are no juries--only a judge who's word is final and is not based on codified statute--only that judge's understanding of the issue and Islamic teaching at that time--precedents aren't binding even on the judge who made the ruling. There is no discover, no cross-examination, no perjury. Oral evidence has a higher priority than written or documentary evidence and eyewitness testimony over forensic evidence. It takes the testimony of four or more women to counter the testimony of one man. Those employed as servants or who are slaves may not testify at all against someone of a higher station.

There are religious scholars who interpret Sharia Law and apply it to each unique situation.
