I feel safer than in one of those Liberal GUN FREE Zones, the only thing I would like better is to carry my 1911A1.

I agree first sergeant because the idiot liberals and their gun free zones gun-free zone Chicago it's a Killzone Gun Free Zone Los Angeles Killzone notice all the Western and eastern states on the border with the exception of Illinois all have gun control that they have the worst crime and get the states that are in the middle and the South that have weapons carrying permit crime is less. Maybe things will change with this new Administration. What's really stupid is stupid Governor Jerry Brown and his cabinet have passed that law on the 1st of January so anyone who has a high capacity magazine is a felon. Just because of those terrorists in San Bernardino who got weapons from a friend from Nevada now they're barring any high capacity magazine. Effective January 1st I'm really pissed off about this. Need jerk reaction from stupid liberals because criminals don't care they're going to have their 30 or 40 round magazine or they're going to have their 90 round drum for the AK-47 they don't care

Study up on the NY state "Safe Act" learn how liberal politicians make criminals out of law abiding citizens, everything is open to interpretation, evil looking guns, hi cap mags etc.

Nope not at all. The threat evolves all the time, sometimes the enemy plans to overwhelm law enforcement with numbers of attackers. The enemy also has the advantage of surprise, because they can initiate the attack at any moment. I say give the good guys more ammo, and better weapons.

Apparently, the current "weapon of choice" by terrorists is a big truck. Bigger the better.

Not the gun, the mask thing is what makes me nervous. If the guys are masked then it's easier in my mind for a foe to infiltrate, as teams tend to recognize each others faces.

If one of our own Psychiatrist MD Officers can go bat shit crazy and kill recruits without a mask, AND in regulation uniform, why would masks concern you ? Teams that are in masks know one another well and aren't as easily fooled by a "plant" as Hollywood would have you believe.....

1LT Rich Voss - Hollywood has nothing to do with my opinions, they have evolved over years of service.
I don't like masks because I can't read peoples reactions, or intentions and while I can't remember peoples names I can recognize faces and voices. I still believe in a situation where teams are spread out like in airport security it would be easier for a foe to pose as a friend because you don't have contact with the entire element and these usually are in buddy teams of two or roaming as singles with coms.
I'll give you credit in a Breaching stack, or assault element where you have contact with everyone on the team and team integrity it would be hard to infiltrate.

CSM - you certainly have the right to you opinion re:masks. They have been used effectively for some time. Actually protects the wearer, and therefore his or her family members also, from kidnap or worse. Sorry if you took offense to the Hollywood ref. But we have been "imprinted" with it. Bandits in cowboy movies, ninja warriors, bank robbers...Anyway, we're not going to change what other countries do in their LEO/Military sector.s

Providing they have had adequate training and are proficient in that weapon, drive on.

When I am in Honduras and El Salvador visit my mother and Honduras who has dementia, the bank will have a guard with a Mini-14 another guard with a shotgun another guard just inside the bank before the metal detector with a pistol and then two guards inside the bank with pistols because law enforcement isn't very strong in those countries. Go to Costco like store in El Salvador San Salvador you got a roving Patrol of two heavily armed guards in the car you got a guard up in a tower with a shotgun or a rifle you've got guards and front and back of the store with shotguns so I mean it's the norm in other countries like many of you have said even Advanced Western ones like Germany.

LTC Stephen Conway - Wouldn't bother me at all - as long as they are subsonic. Indeed, maybe they could screw on a silencer too, so if they get in firefight at least they would not add undue noise to either their tactical communications, orders, and/or to the already noisey airport environment. Of course, we are talking about law enforcement or troops - not contractors. Maybe all law enforcement officers - particularly those likely to be called into a tactical combat situation should be equipped with submachine guns and silencers? Warmest Regards, Sandy :)

Good commentary! Silencers are good idea too. We have uninformed in Canada who don't see how other police forces WORLDWIDE act so they make media complaints but they don't realize how lucky they are!

It's always funny people complain. The RCMP had it at the low ready he's wearing is RCMP Police hat he wasn't dressed like SWAT but he did have his vest on with all those magazines. I walked up to him at the time we still couldn't wear our uniforms for travel and I complimented him. I told him I was in the Army Reserve in the states and I told him he had a really awesome looking M4. He smiled and nodded. I was on my way to drill in California.

I'm sure there are a few of them that would qualify to be confident enough to have weapons since many are ex-military and an had an honorable discharge or are retirees who retired in good standing.

Doesn't bother me in the least bit. Too bad we (US) take a more pro active approach to threat deterant as our neighbors in Europe.

Nothing says "think real hard before you do something stupid" than fully armed LEO's. And yes I've been to Germany, and the Polizei don't play around.

Hell no! Law enforcement needs all the firepower available to deal with terrorists! Germany and South Korea carries them and I felt more secured knowing they do have the means to respond to a threat!
