Prince Harry has had some bad reviews about some of his antics when he was younger. He grew up. He enlisted in the military and has had two deployments to Afghanistan. He came to America recently and hit off with our military men and women. I have the highest respect for him and for what he has done since being in America. He continues to be an example of how a celebrity should act. Now, to the rest of the story:
Overcome with emotion. Prince Harry was deeply moved after a U.S. Marine gave the dog tag of a fallen colleague to the royal on Sunday, Nov. 1, at Buckingham Palace.
Marine Kirstie Ennis had just finished a 1,000 mile marathon trek for charity through Britain with five others when she presented the royal, 31, with the dog tag. Ennis herself had been severely injured in a 2012 helicopter crash in Afghanistan.
The royal, 31, gave a hug to Marine Kirstie Ennis as she presented him with a dog tag from a fallen Marine. Ennis, 24, who was severely injured in a 2012 helicopter crash in Afghanistan, walked 1,000 miles through Britain along with five other people.

I don't have negative "feelings" about the royal family SGT (Join to see). The royal family dates back to the middle ages and perhaps even to the dark ages. Some were indeed villains with interesting names such as "The Black Prince" who was wasn't black by the way :-)
The British Royal family has vast resources and may well have served as the model for the wealthy families and estates of this nation which periodically open parts of the their holdings to the public to enjoy.
Centuries ago, the British Royal Family used to wield absolute power but now their functions and responsibilities are largely ceremonial.
Our own first family, namely the POTUS and direct family, require a vast amount of resources for housing, entertainment of foreign dignitaries, travel, security and communications, etc. Similar to Royal families our retired national leaders have reduced requirements but are still regarded as personages to be revered at public expense :-) Granted not everybody reveres each of the former Presidents; but, our tax dollars support their security, housing, etc. :-)

Of all the English Royal Family, he seems the most human. The rest seem kind of robotic in everything. Harry is himself. If he wants to bring strippers into the palace at three in the morning, he will do so. Nobody can deny how much this young man cares about veterans. Not British veterans, not American veterans, just veterans. He has put his money where his mouth is on that one and I have nothing but respect for that.

Harry is a mans man. He doesn't worry about the status quo.
I love that he is so patriotic throughout the world.

SGT (Join to see) - I agree. He strikes me as the Beer and pizza with my squadron mates type rather than the pomp and circumstance type. Regardless he does great things for wounded warriors on both sides of the pond.

I have nothing but respect for the British Royal family, particularly Prince Harry and his brother in their military service. Both were dedicated service members, Will wanted to deploy himself I think but they wouldn't allow it with him being so high up in line to the crown. Harry was able to see combat and even would visit with the wounded service members he served alongside to include American troops. Would be a great honor to meet either one of them.

Yes it would be an awesome experience. As long as he didn't talk too fast so I could understand him. Lol

Trying to understand why anyone would have a negative feeling, is it because they are rich?

SSG Audwin Scott - even when it's not warranted, people will always have a negative feeling about something... human nature 101...

No, I have a very high opinion of both Harry and William. Harry has received a lot of flack for doing dumb things. He was a young man doing what young men do. That's not an excuse, it's a reason. It does not surprise me at all that he would get emotional receiving the dog tags.

SrA Daniel Hunter, I think Harry is dedicated to all armed forces who have gone to Afghanistan. He knows what happens in a combat unit. Evidently the lady felt honored by Harry, as someone she can connect with, and ant d to pay honor to him by giving him the dog tags.

SrA Daniel Hunter I agree that if we held all the dumb shit people do against them, there wouldn't be anybody left. His problem is family. If I get drunk and take naked pictures, people laugh and it is a big joke. Because of his lineage, he does it and it is scandalous. I am glad that he acts as a person rather than a stiff in a suit.

Prince Harry is good to go in my book. Before he deployed I thought he was just a rich-kid in the royal family. His experiences make him a better leader for future endeavors.

No negative feelings for ANY Veterans! And, let's get some prayers for a fast and safe recovery for the US Marine that Prince Harry got emotional over, who is now getting her leg amputated!

PO2 (Join to see), Great idea Susan. If that FALSE! Good lord butter bar. You certainly have a nasty attitude. If that were daughter, that's exactly what I would want for her, to help get thru her surgery and recovery.

SGT (Join to see) To inject a little humor into this. I am actually kind of jealous of Harry. Not because he is a prince. Not because he is rich. Not because he will never NEED to have a real job (even though he volunteered to serve his country). No, I am jealous because despite all of that other stuff, he also gets to fly helicopters that have the capacity to blow shit up! I looked into learning to fly helicopters, but the $50,000 investment with no expectation of turning it into employment left me not doing so. So there a negative (ish) feeling about Prince Harry.

No, I do not; did not, and do not because of this... I am over 3 years removed from the Army, and 7 years removed from combat... and I well-up regularly when I think about the losses my units sustained. During the surge, I attended at least one memorial ceremony a week - 15 months... and some weeks it was daily.... I had loses in operations I was directly involved in. When I think of those things, and all the Purple Hearts we awarded at the CSH... I have a hard time keeping it together... I believe emotions are key to being good leader.
