The Harbour Square, located adjacent to Fort McNair, is a group of residential towers and townhomes, organized in the early 1960’s as a cooperative community. They are also a partner of RallyPoint and have provided a great amount of resources and support to keep the RallyPoint community live.
Harbour Square is seeking to hire a Facilities Director and they want to make the hire within the RallyPoint community! The Facilities Director Responsible would be responsible for all engineering, physical plant, grounds maintenance and associated employees and for leading, planning and monitoring progress on facilities program needs.
Check out the opportunity on Harbour Square's RallyPoint page (on desktop only): https://www.rallypoint.com/organizations/harbour-square/jobs/450025-director-of-facilities

One of the common problems veterans have is knowing what our military skills translate to in the civilian world. For instance, I ran the aviation assets from 3 major cities in Iraq, but haven't found many jobs requiring the ability to liberate the hell out of a mid-sized country.....lol

SFC Mark Merino - that's an issue, but I am reminded of the old saying "problems are opportunities in work clothes". Trick is to find that oppportunity kick the living shit out of it until it opens up.

Right on Top! Never quit. When God lets the right job fall in my lap I'll jump all over it. Till then, apply apply apply.

Oh my, I HOPE so. I was one for 23 years serving a university, retirement communities, K-12 schools, and a government building.
Too old to be interested now though.

Capt (Join to see), we are sad that we won't be able to tempt you back for this position but it sounds like you have a lot of experience and expertise in the field. Do you have any advice or suggestions for RP members who might be interested in applying for this opening or in Facilities roles in general?

Wow, what a question. My take is that many think that to be successful they must know everything and be able to do anything that the staff can do. That is IMPOSSIBLE. No one can be qualified as an electrician, plumber, carpenter, admin specialist, custodian, grounds keeper, etc.
You must know enough to recognize who is an expert in these areas. Then turn them loose and stay out of the way. Support them and give them credit for their labors.
In short provide direction and instill a customer service attitude.
