All you photogenic military personnel out there in RP Land let’s have a little photo session just to lighten it up today! Share the first photograph or the earliest photograph of yourself when you entered the military and tell us the date of the photo.
I'll start with Private Burroughs in 1975 at Fort Leonard Wood, MO & end with Colonel Mikel in 2005!

1960: Wearing utilities and helmet (green side out) during training in the 2nd Infantry Training Regiment (ITR), and after completion including the final test, the 3-day war (that's what is was called at the time) wearing summer tropicals and an attitude (I was pretty proud that I made it). Semper Fi.

This is my first picture in my dress blues. This is circa 2000 when the Army came out with the Corporal Recruiting Program. I was in Bay City Station in Bay City, Michigan. The following year I was the number 1 recruiter, in the number 1 station, in the number 1 company, in the number 1 battalion. Being an Army Recruiter is the reason why I got into recruiting after the military. It was an extremely tough, thankless job. I've never been cursed at, threatened or hung up on more in my life than when I was an Army Recruiter. It definitely made civilian recruiting a piece of cake! I wouldn't have changed anything though.

My first uniform was as a cadet at New Mexico Military Institute, Roswell, NM 1980-82 (left). My first official military uniform was in the picture on the right at my commissioning in 1982 at NMMI.

First pic is on a road March near Dong du Chon, Korea in 1983. Second pic is my promotion to E7 at Fort Derrick in Frederick, Maryland in 1988. And the last pic is my Basic Training picture at Fort Dixon, New Jersey in 1972. So, there you are Colonel. . .some of my military career from 1972 to 1992.

Were you up near Camp Saint Barbara? I seem to remember the town outside the base being called Twam Dong but Dong du Choin rang a bell too. The guy promoting you is wearing Americal combat patch, one of my units in Nam.SFC Edward Sneed
