Since I left the military, I haven't been shooting nor I plan to go. I'm not opposed to weapons or shooting. It's just something I desire to engage in since I transitioned. After being out two years, I still occasionally think about range qualification days. I know many of my comrades and vets who own personal weapons and still go shooting today. I'm a bit curious about the post-service shooting choices. Do you still shoot or no? Why or why not?

I learned from my Marine stepfather that,"Marksmanship is a perishable skill, son"
So since age 8, I have shot at least once a month. Still do. And yes, my preferences are still for rifles in 7.62x51, and pistols in 45ACP

Being at the range was my favorite part of being a Marine. I don't go hardly as often as I want to, but I've been a few times.

I go as much as my other "hobbies" and my budget allows. I am not into "spray-n-pray" fire, so my ammo needs are much lower than many others. Reasons? First, I carry for personal protection, so practice with my carry sidearm is a must. For rifle, I enjoy the concentration and precision required for highly accurate distance shooting. Studying ballistics of a specific type of ammo, then going to the range and firing several rounds at a 100-yard target, then covering that hole with a quarter? Priceless! And that is a skill set handy for, uh, other things, should the need arise.

Awesome, I know that people are being trained correctly with the USMC in charge. I think Conceal Carry is a great thing when the carriers are PROPERLY trained.

I did, up until the point where I had to sell my firearms in order to pay the bills. Finally got a stable job, but it doesn't pay enough to repurchase. I will as soon as I can, though!

Sorry about the job and money troubles, Nathan. There's been a lot of that going around. Good on ya' for finding some steady work now, though - that's awesome! Just keep working at it and put a little in the kitty each week, and soon you'll have some saved up for emergencies. Do that again, and you'll have some saved up for yourself. Just be careful, my friend. We're all really only a couple of paydays from being on the street - we just don't realize it till it happens!

If I can, every week, now that you have the Skill, "Sharpen the Edge."
It's like, do you tie your shoes laces, left over right, or right over left. What really matters is, Your shoes laces are tied.
