Do you still go to the range since you left the service?

Since I left the military, I haven't been shooting nor I plan to go. I'm not opposed to weapons or shooting. It's just something I desire to engage in since I transitioned. After being out two years, I still occasionally think about range qualification days. I know many of my comrades and vets who own personal weapons and still go shooting today. I'm a bit curious about the post-service shooting choices. Do you still shoot or no? Why or why not?

I spend more time on the range now and with more variety of firearms than I did while still serving.

You and me both.
I've gotten much better training on my own time as well. It's actually kinda sad...

I've noticed that many of our vets like or enjoy shooting or going to the range. However, ammunition and associated costs is a significant deterrent and a common factor among those who don't go. When I was in, i'd shoot all the ammo I could get without a thought as to what it the military. It's different when you have absorb the costs out of your own pocket. It's another level of commitment to the sport.

Haven't been to the range in far too long. My range buddy passed away several years ago and a gun-fearing ex-wife also kept me away. I think I need to get with my brother and go shooting soon, although night shift work makes it hard to get to the range.

I have few things I truly enjoy now in my retirement years, but an outlet for me is going to the range, not to get better at shooting something but to test myself. I enjoy taking my skills as a PMI (Basic Rifle Marksmanship) instructor and maintaining or improving the skills I've acquired in some cases. I like to compete and test myself against other shooters. FYI, I have several weapons to choose from but really like my AR. To me it's no difference from this activity and fishing.

I shoot as often as I can limited by time and ammo supply. I am still required to qualify for my LEOSA card and make money as a instructor for different types of firearms and weapons systems.

Whenever I have the time and ammo budget. I find it to be zen - control your breathing, stabilize, break the shot. I enjoy it and it relaxes me.
