Do you think any of our current politicians could pass a serious background investigation today if running for President?

With all the mud slinging and the digging deep into the past and background of all our current candidates, future potential candidates, or current individuals serving in Congress or Government today, would anybody be able to pass the litness test of purity in America to hold the highest office or for any office as a matter of fact?
Most of them wouldn't qualify for a Top Secret Clearance or would they be granted one anyway?

I think they'd be granted one anyway. I was surprised to learn Huma Abedin had/has a TS clearance, after learning she spent her formative years 2-18 living in Saudi Arabia. I can't spend a week in the Bahamas with my wife without reporting it and getting questioned.

In the Village of Columbus NM, located in the middle of the State, raided by Pancho Villa in 1916, the birthplace of American airpower with the first combat air base...In 2006 I was replaced by the newly elected Mayor. He replaced me with a man, who I arrested for fraud over $2500, while that man served as one of my officers. I had to disarm him, convinced him to turn himself in to the active warrant holding agency, rather than see him arrested at gun point surrounded by another LEA in the parking lot of a local Walmart while driving a marked patrol unit.
When the new Mayor was elected, I knew his first official act was to remove me from office...and he did just that...replacing me, with the man I arrested. The image of the office was tarnished by him...6 chiefs and 5 years later... the acting Chief was arrested by Federal authorities along with the Mayor, his nephew an elected councilman, and about 10 other family members of the Mayor... for running guns to drug cartels in Mexico.
You would recognize that as the infamous "Fast and Furious scandal".
And as Paul Harvey would have said...Now you know the rest of the story...

I'm certain that many of them could. The standards aren't as rigorous as maybe they should be. However, it's now obvious that Hillary Clinton couldn't

Meh. I think actually most of us would be fine passing a background check. Have I done stupid things? Yes. Criminal? No. would I wanna run for president? Hell no.

PO3 Tiffany Meyers - Not necessarily. If you aren't actively paying off debt they'll deny it. If you are that works in your favor. Friends that do stupid things? Only if they can associate you with those people. I just did my second PR and told the investigator all about my dipshit ex husband because she asked if I have ever interacted with the police. I said yes but only because of my ex husband. Never myself. I have never been arrested and never been to jail. I have had to call the police on him when we were together or talked to them because he was under investigation for a robbery after we divorced and his first ex wife dropped my name that she told me about it. She said "so your only interaction was due to him?" I said yes. No problem. So having dipshit acquaintances won't affect you persay.

PO3 Tiffany Meyers - I've seen the friends/family members that do stupid things disqualify people from security clearances, and they were the ones being honest about the issues and not trying to hide them.

SFC Kelly Fuerhoff - dipshit ex husband no problem, dipshit current husband might be a different story, especially if a person wasn't actively trying to distance themselves from that individual. By the letter of the law the person under investigation might very well be doing nothing in any way illegal, yet that spouse, child or parent that they won't basically excommunicate from their lives could keep a security clearance from going through.
