Considering all the illegal immigrants in this country, do you think they should be able to use welfare or public assistance considering they aren't citizens and that many working Americans are denied welfare or public assistance.

I think we have two many Veterans and some enlisted service people should be taken care of first.

I have an easy fix. Clip welfare and public assistance all together. See easy, problem solved. It will sort it self out after a while. :)

Sgt Steven Thomas - No. Outsourcing has been going on since the 90's. Neither party has made any strides to limit it. Outsourcing is efficiency when done correctly. The problem is that in America, outsourcing is done for profit.

If a business is not profitable, it dies along with it's jobs. Each and every year as a middle manager with P&L responsibilities, I had to produce a zero based budget and justify the existence of my organization to top management. No profit, no jobs.

No. If they are not legally in this country, then the benefits of being a citizen should not be afforded to them.

Honestly, no. It's a ridiculous system where someone who never contributes can receive the benefits, but if a regular working class American needed a helping hand they're denied.
I remember when I was homeless once. Living in my car. Working 70-75 hours a week and going to school trying to better my situation. I was denied low-income housing because "I made too much money".
But I knew people in that same housing project that have never worked a day in their life.
Do we have an immigration problem, yes. People shouldn't have to wait so long to become a citizen. If someone wants to become a member of the USA, then we should be welcoming to them. But that also doesn't mean we should be giving a free pass to those who don't go through the process that actual immigrants have gone through.

They are contributing tho. They are earning money for an American business person. An American somewhere is hiring them to work for them.

PO3 Donald Murphy - They're not supposed to be working. It's another failing of the government in that it does not enforce E-Verify. Business people who hire them should be heavily fined for everyone that they hire illegitimately. Businesses are using chicanery to bring in too many H1B workers. Farmers no longer bring in H1A workers because it is cheaper to hire illegals. How does Disney get away with laying off workers and replacing them with H1B workers and threatening the soon to be laid off employees with no severance pay if they don't train them to do their jobs?

The illegal alien is a pawn in a much larger political agenda that has been going on for over 50 years. Think of it as creating a State within a State. It causes chaos and brings change.
Open borders and a North American Union is the real agenda.
What should have been the agenda is the wall and helping Mexico developed itself. It is to late now due to debt.
G-d has ordered us to be nice to the traveler, widow and orphan. Do what you can when you see a need. We will not be alive forever.

The majority of it is a great answer but an equal chunk of it is plain old money. We the people allow business to lay us off and outsource us to maximise *THEIR* profit. Were outsourcing to be illegal or as difficult as it is in Europe/Asia, then you would be able to count the illegal aliens on one hand.

PO3 Donald Murphy - Thank you for your response PO3. I have no issue with your post. Elected individuals sold out our country for money.

With the exception of emergency care (which they are still billed eventually), I don't believe illegal immigrants are able to get public assistance unless there's a scam involved.

SrA Edward Vong Kind of, sort of, no not really.
They can receive schooling and medical care commonly with out fear of repercussions in most every city and state, but not specially general government welfare or food stamps. That said there are cities and states that run state or city tax payer funded programs that do not require a valid SSN... this too is tax payer funded public assistance, and resources used on illegal immigrants.
The Schooling itself is a vast drain on resources..then they are programs administrated at OR though the school that are used as well.
Medical is another huge drain on resources...Liberals will say "Illegals cannot get Medicare or other Free medical services" "its all a right wing lie" What they forget to tell you is, routine medical services are indeed provided every day in every ER across the US. An Illegal immigrant willing to wait though triage process will eventually be seen for the cut finger, sniffles, broken finger, flu, ect,, on top of the emergency treatment for a broken leg, respiratory distress, cardiac event
And then you have the illegal immigrants that get SIGNIFICANT $$$$ in legal welfare payments and tax incentives though the proxy of a child born on US spoil. So while the adult illegal immigrant may not direct get thousands of dollars in US Tax parer funded welfare not directly, but by way of a child... So its another slight of hand trick..
"illegal immigrants are not getting paid welfare" is a "true" statement, but so is illegal immigrants in 2012 received more then 102 BILLION us tax dollars in welfare payments.

Illegal Immigrants Get More Welfare Than American Families
The households of illegal immigrants receive an average of about $1,000 more annually in federal welfare benefits than do the households of non-immigrant recipients, a new analysis finds.

SGM Erik Marquez - Well again, you hit upon a key component: "tax payer funded programs that do not require a valid SSN." So if the door requires no key, you can't complain that you got robbed, correct? Same with anchor babies. A divorced American citizen mom is not forced by the court to use her child support *SOLELY* on the children. So you can't conceivably expect a court to monitor anchor baby support abuses. Free programs in school - likewise - are voted on every school year. And most of the people angrily stomping feet at "illegal alien benefits" will then vote in "free breakfast and lunches for all kids."
Likewise with medical care for free at ER's. If no one is going to hold it accountable then it will be abused. Tho to be fair, obamacare or something like it, was needed as 1/4 of the nation had no health care. So I'm thinking a lot of the ER abuse is good old-fashioned un-insured citizens as well which makes it hard to blame a lot of the problem on IA's.

PO3 Donald Murphy - I have no idea what the intent was by your post but the only take away I have is you justified why it's OK to be a thief over and over and over again. It's not the criminals fault because somebody else should have set up a better system to catch them.
I categorically disagree that person that leaves the front door unlocked has no right to complain when they are robbed.
The thief is to blame not the homeowner that didn't stand guard,
using your line of reasoning it was the young teenage girls responsibility for being raped because she wore something provocative not the rapist for raping her.

SGM Erik Marquez - No idea? Ok - how about this idea: not everyone on welfare is an illegal alien. Here's another idea: you can't make a program with no requirement conditions and then complain that it gets abused. Your article - which you agree with (or you wouldn't have posted it)- presupposes that "illegal immigrants get more welfare than American families." The article (and at times, you) then go into examples of benefits/funds that are not accountable. Well - honestly...if its not accountable then how can it be ascribed to an illegal? If you can't monitor it or guage it or check it, then how would you know?
I then throw in a game plan to fix the issue which you took as acceptance. Allow me to answer your statement like an insurance agent would: "tell me your door was unlocked AND YOU WILL NOT get your claim covered." So while the thief is indeed wrong for robbing the house, the home owner must/will do due diligence in keeping the house safe, yes? So yes - if you vote in benefits and those benefits get abused because you did not account for abuse, then you are never going to be able to protect that benefit. Nor can you adequately blame that benefits' abuse on a certain demographic.
Same with anchor babies. Benefits should be given to the citizen only, which is the baby. The fact that the baby does not have a bank account, ability to get the funds is irrelevant. The funds then need to be held in escrow like everywhere else in the world. English wife. In a weird spin, England uses the mom and not the dad to base citizenship. Where ever in the world the mom is, the children are English. So my two American-born daughters are "English" according to the British government. Even tho their English mom was in the USA when she gave birth. But their benefits don't start until they are graduated-from-high-school age. So when they turned 14 ("legal age" in UK) they got a letter from HM Government asking if they wished to be citizens, etc.
We - the USA - on the other hand, lavish the alien baby with tons of cash and benefits. Well...who's fault is that? Eliminate all of that, and magically, your number of benefit abuse goes waaaaaaaaaaaaay down.
