This question is for all RallyPoint members, active, reserve, guard, vet and retired!

Do you wear your dog tags daily? Only when your deployed? Only since you got out?

In my own service it is unusual for SM's to wear their's daily. Often they are kept in the mobility folder.

I wore my daily when I was deployed. I don't wear them daily back in garrison.

Then that is a change.

If you wanted an AR

a. Identification (ID) tags. The wear of ID tags is governed by AR 600–8–14.

(1) Soldiers will wear ID tags at all times when in a field environment, while traveling in aircraft, and when outside the continental United States.

(2) Personnel will wear ID tags around the neck, except when safety considerations apply (such as during physical training).

b. Security identification badges. In restricted areas, commanders may prescribe the wear of security identification badges, in accordance with AR 600–8–14 and other applicable regulations. Personnel will not wear security identifica- tion badges outside the area for which they are required. Personnel will not hang other items from the security badge(s). The manner of wear will be determined by the organization that requires wear of the badges.

When in combat wore one around neck and one in boot. Is that still SOP since you are even more likely to be blown up than shot now days?

Not specifically for the AF, but I do know a lot of folks that do that.

I always kept one in my boot on deployment and one around my neck also back home out of habit. BUT when I retired I gave them to my daughter at my ceremony and told her I wouldn't be needing them anymore!

While on active duty, If I was not inside my home, I wore my dog tags. During my two Rifle Bn tours and my Marine Barracks tour, every Marine had to show his dog tags, and ID card prior to securing for the day.

No, but I keep one of my father's on my keychain. He had the same blood type, so I'm not worried about getting the wrong blood.
