PO2 Corey Ferretti, I reported to Reception Station at Fort Jackson, SC on 28OCT69. Basic Combat Training began 11NOV69 and ended 16JAN70. I still have my original dog tags and the "graduation" book we received upon completion.

They let you leave a course with material? Do you still have your patrol mapped out on it

Yeah I still have my sweatshirt and sweats before they went to the current uniform. Wife wears them around as her "comfy" sweats. Don't know how they are comfy, but works for me. Happy wife, happy life :)

I have my original USNA hoodie from '81, and am wearing it now, except that the hood has long since been cut off.

I saved my low quarters (black shoes, for the other services) from basic training to this day. I wore them for years, including a stint in the Old Guard, where they sported a very high shine.

Yes, as a matter of fact I do still have some original items from Bootcamp. Recently I was in a dance skit to the song "In the Navy" by The Village People. We were to wear Navy Uniforms. I went to the thrift store and bought a woman's white Cracker Jack shirt men's pants and woman's white belt. I wore my own garrison cover and leather work shoes. It felt awkward to be wearing a uniform that was for the purpose of doing a skit. However on the same token it felt good to be wearing two items that were truly mine.
Afterward I was told I was the only one who obviously had previous military training in marching and saluting. After thirty years it would have felt even better to have been able to wear my dress blues but the old waistline after bearing ten children is several inches greater. I tried on my jacket and it came to each side of my waist. Haha.
Talk about a motivation to work out again. They say muscle has memory. Do you think a fifty year old woman can get her 20 inch Bootcamp waistline back? Jk

I'm pretty sure I have my original USNA Plebe Dixie Cup from 1981. I just wore out my last issued USNA T-shirt a year or so ago.

I kept all of my covers, from the original recruit (stained with sweat), to my final duty station.

Hi Kyle, you are funny. Of course you are going to have you bluejackets Manual and picture book. You are a Seaman. Let me know if you still have it after thirty years. My husband and I still have ours as well. Our children can't believe how different we looked back then as opposed to now. My son's are like, Mom! You were really pretty!" And they are amazed dad had muscles! Hahaha

The blues are a bit understandable. Those things are not cheap, and somewhat durable. The whites however, I have no idea how you've managed to do that. I had to replace two sets of whites within 6 months of getting out of basic.

I still have quite a few things, that include my yearbook, photos, my leather Bates oxfords (which I still use), among other stuff that got packed in that forgotten, box that you can never find when you want it. I went to bootcamp in '84.

My field jacket. I'm surprised it hasn't been eaten by moths yet because it's over 40 years old.

Never got a yearbook or company photo because I got hurt and was transferred to a profile platoon to finish out what Basic I had to do. Only have a 'proof' photo that was taken of me with a flag and globe before I got hurt. Never got the real photo. That's O.K. Not a lot about basic that's memorable.
