Is how you wrote the question your standard written communication? If so, I would enroll in English 101 at your local college. A part of being successful in law enforcement is to be able to write reports. I really do not understand much of what you wrote and I am not trying to be mean but provide meaningful advice.

EAS - End of Active Service
UDP - Unit Deployment Program
LCpl (Join to see) You have to remember that a lot of those acronyms are USMC specific, try to shy away from jargon when speaking to wider audiences.

Go to county website and do research. There should be somebody from the local government who can act as a liaison to guide you.

I am a retired Deputy Sheriff and frankly take exception to your comment about Sheriff’s Departments being less developed. They are by nature the top Law Enforcement agencies in their respective counties. All municipalities fall under their overall jurisdiction. The Sheriff, if needed be can under certain conditions, step in and take over a municipal agency. The only drawback to County Sheriff’s departments lie in the fact that their tax base doesn’t compare to incorporated cities. The denser the population of a city, the more taxes. The unincorporated counties lack the density of population to have as big a budget.

Here in Florida the Sheriff's Department is the top dog.
In response to the original question, many agencies in Florida won't even look at you unless you have at least a two year degree so something else to ponder.

Going to the academy in most states is paid for by the respective departments. Start applying now because it takes awhile. Let the agency you’re interested in know your situation.
