Don’t you think Mexico, Honduras, El Salvador etc would say it is smarter and wiser to have stronger more protected borders?

As well as destabilizes Mexico as the weapons flow South into Mexico increases exponentially as does the money that Mexican Organized Crime makes from human trafficing

Since there has been documented evidence that they actively attempt to prevent illegal entry I would say they very well might. I would also say some of their politicians like some of ours, practice hypocrisy.
