WHO IS THE BEST LEADER, MANAGER, OR COMMANDER YOU EVER WORKED FOR?
Mine was my Mentor/Commander (RET) Colonel John P. Edwards. He was my Commander at the 357th Aviation Detachment, SHAPE, Belgium and inspired me to become an officer and finish college, and reach for the STARS.
Who was the BEST ever for you?

It's not an answer to your question, but it's relevant. I had two mentors that changed my view of leadership and my role as a leader. I was the 1stLt, then Capt. Company Commander of Company C, MarBks Bangor. GySgt Schumacher took over as Company 1stSgt the same day I assumed command, and SgtMaj Koczjewski was the Barracks SgtMaj.
I never met an officer or another SNCO who could hold a candle to either of them.

LTC (at the time 1LT and CPT) Ned Ferraro, commander of HHC 316th PSYOP BN from 1990 through 1992. He demoted and later promoted me as well as taught me what it is to lead soldiers.

CPT Donald Osterberg. Commandant Light Fighter Academy.
The LFA was created and tasked to provide Light Infantry training to Reserve Units. One weekend in particular was Demolitions. He demanded hands on shit. We were left to our own devices in improvised munitions. Literally CRATES of Claymores were disassembled and made into all sorts of devious devices by the students. His vision was to have the Soldiers pick C4 from their fingernails on the way home and say "FUCK! THAT was COOL!"
Us Instructors were not allowed to wear field jackets. We could wear whatever "snivel gear" we wanted to under our BDU shirts. During the "Hand to Gland" instruction, he would routinely coach us to not look cold.
The guy was a STUD and everyone under his Command would have gladly followed him through the gates of Hell!
