How is it that every presidential cycle , we keep voting on the "lesser of the evils" vs electing the correct candidate? Is it the political party system? is it that somehow if you stay clean from corruption you have no chances of getting elected?
I can't figure out why as a nation we keep putting ourselves in this situation that clearly is not working.

Perhaps we haven't actually elected the lessor.

Let he without sin cast the first stone. Jesus himself could be running for president and someone would still refer to him as the lesser of two evils.

We choose the lesser evil because the greater evil is too scary to think about.

We got into this fix because too many good people split the sane vote too many ways and refused to get out of the race until there was no chance to beat the candidate that appealed to the lowest common denominator and who was willing to engage in the dirtiest fighting.

And we never learn from the experience. We keep doing that.

Unfortunately the last two elections we chose the greater of the two evils.

SGT Jerrold Pesz, agreed. But the problem is the primaries that produce these candidates; we need to do better there.

Because they're scared to vote third party, plain and simple.

Agreed. I consider myself a Libertarian and I do not believe my party's candidate is viable.

Yeah, Gary Johnson went off the rails about halfway through. If they can ever find a good, solid, SANE candidate, they could do it. They really need to concentrate on getting Libertarians in Local and State positions harder. Once they show the people that being a Libertarian doesn't mean you want everyone smoking weed (Which is what the Media always brings up), then maybe, just maybe they can get a decent run at the Presidency. Until more people know that the party isn't what the Media portrays it as, they're never going to win the big elections. Start small, build a rapport with the people, and you'll get there. God knows the other two parties are just distorted mirror images of each other these days!

I believe it's the system, if you're not part of it, you have no chance of winning, so we get the candidate who's supposed to get "their turn" instead.

I really wanted Herman Cain, but being that he wasn't part of the "system", he was run out of the race...sad, he would have done a great job!

PO3 Sandra Gomke - If I thought they had a snowball's chance in hell, I'd support them, just to break the cycle. Too bad nowhere near enough people will do the same, I lean more toward the Libertarian side anyway, they really need to get a solid candidate and get them known long before the elections. The Democrats and Republicans dominate the races, so we rarely if ever hear of another option...and it's all by design!

Sgt Mike Sarris - I don't think a lot of people are aware of the Johnson/Webb choice. The media is so busy spotlighting Trump and Clinton that everything else is lost in the glare.

PO3 Sandra Gomke - And it happens every Presidential election, if you don't have a D or R next to your name, the media ignores you.
