I've only seen that happen downrage where they case waive leadership school until you return.

X-rays tend to make E6 in about 3 years after completing the SFAS and SFQC pipeline.

I personally think you probably deserved the promotion. I was in a unit that I couldn't get promoted because of lack of leadership showing me how to be. Good luck in your promotion sir. Wish you the best sincerely!

During my time, I’ve had Squad Leaders/SSGs who couldn’t write awards and NCOERs, basic NCO stuff it seems but the truth is they just didn’t have any experience in doing them. I had a couple who couldn’t do MFRs or use effective Army writing, but were great during training exercises and down range. Exposure and experience plays a part in leadership, so time may or may not be irrelevant. My experiences have proven that one duty station and quick promotions only create leadership issues later on. Just my opinion, means nothing!

I do not believe, rank is age specific, as long as, the older, wiser NCOs take the time to mentor the young ones. Some people are gifted, with the maturity, and intellect, along with some good common sense, to make fine NCOs, at a young age.

There is just too much to learn in the Navy or any other branch of the servile, to make E-6 in three years. You'll step on your toes and make a big fool of your self. Learn what you need or each pay grade, that way your part of a great organization. Then you'll not only be a great leader, but knowledgeable enough to help others. Think, don't act first. If you don't know what you are doing, then you not only fail those under you, but yourself also.

Not positive but I dont think 3 years TIS is enough for an E-6 SSG promotion or rank without a battlefield promotion. I dont even think that's enough time even with a waiver.
