I respect fast trackers however; my personal experience their I’ll equipped to lead troops in critical thinking moments like combat.

One year in Nam I went as an E-2 and came back an E-5, so however long it takes to make rank, if it gets you out of the mundane things not doing, just leading, worth it.

Yes. Bless you on your rank advancement, but you were promoted way too fast for proper development in a wholesome military career.

I think someone can make rank too soon. There has to be some time for that person to learn prior to being promoted. You have to learn to be a leader at lower level with smaller groups or teams prior to being put in charge of larger groups. As far as how long...it will depend on the person. Some are just natural leaders and some have to actually developed leadership skills. The development time is paramount.

You have to learn to be a follower before you can be a leader. You have to learn to follow orders before you can give them. Leaders and supervisors are made not born.

Made E-3 out of basic, E-4 at 8-9 months due to an automatic promotion after "A" school, E 5 at the 2.5-year mark. I moved up way before I was ready.

First no one makes rank, rank is earned if you are told different then that person is some how just jealous.

I got out as an E4. I was an E4P but I was screwed over by my battalion commander. I got medically discharged. About a year out from getting discharged I asked the promotable designation be removed. 3 years is hella quick.

Should be promoted on knowledge, leadership and ability. Be all you can be. Most of us in Army Armor made E5 in 2 years. Hard to believe some 20 year E6's in the AirForce, before they finally made them progress or get out.
