I say training is training. In my book, Zombie = Liberal and we appear to be in the middle of a 'Zombie' Apocalypse as we speak. For the record, a spear thrust through either eye takes them down for good.

LCpl,

With so many Zombies, we need to conserve energy. As long as you destroy the brain, they will stay down.

For the record: I ONLY advocating the unprovoked spearing of the undead.
Is a zombie attempting to eat my brain provocation? I guess I ONLY advocate spearing a human, or humanoid, if provoked…or in compliance with CONPLAN-8888 or FM 999-3.

Most of the Zombies would perish if they happen to be in Washington DC/Pentagon area. Since they survive mostly on brains the pickings would be very slim in that area.

I found this article in my daily briefing e-mail from "The Week" magazine. It probably can't compete with CONPLAN 8888, but it contains some good solid advice.

CDC was all over this a while back. The purpose was using humor to fuel the masses to understand emergency preparedness. Then they found that people took it seriously and were listening to the what they had to say. Sheep... we are all sheep.

The article mentioned that those at the CMD responsible for the CONOP used it as a training tool to teach new staff personnel how the orders process works at that level. It's a great idea in my opinion because if you take an unknown, wild-card variable (like "zombies" in this case) and then make that variable something that is part of popular culture, then people will be both receptive to learning and probably get more out of the training. When you start using fictional countries like Atropia for your war-games, you lose some people. Just my two cents. I thought that Foreign Policy did a great job with the write-up as well.

I heard about this and thought it was a joke. Here is a great place to start trimming the fat in the DoD budget.

I have soft copies of these "FMs" around somewhere. Some well written material. Definitely something that will assist in putting together a Sergeant's Time Training block of instruction or two... ;)
