The VA has announced that Walgreens will provide Flu shots, starting now, for all VA healthcare participants free - for the first 75,000 Veterans with a VA healthcare ID Card. Those who come after the first 75,000 without any other insurance may have to pay a small fee for the shot.

What really pisses me off about the VA is that they accept Medicare but won't accept Tricare.

That, like so many other things our "esteemed" government does, makes ZERO sense

Or as MSG Wade Huffman prefers to reference - the soup sandwich phenomenon.

Since I have both Medicare and Tricare, I have shifted most of my meds to my Primary (Read NON-VA) Doctor and get my meds through Express Scripts. That way I effectively wind up paying close to $0.00 for most of my meds and only visit my VA Doc twice year to maintain eligibility in case of major needs that are service connected and would require massive pay on my part thru medicare.

And SGT Alfred Cox cneck your statue, it shows you as Veteran, but I am willing to bet you are Retired since you say your family has Tri Care.

CVS gives free flu shots to anyone regardless of vet status and has been doing so for years. This year they are also giving a 20% off shopping coupon.

Nice of Walgreens to do something for the military especially when they decided to not accept Tricare any more.

Sgt Packy Flickinger I sometimes have to really try and not get totally pissed off when I hear a major corporation like Walgreen refuses to take medical insurance from a particular company - that's like saying "your money ain't green".....

PO1 (Join to see) Walgreens isn't refusing. My company just won't renew a contract with them because it costs to much. Problem is CVS here sucks and I hate going to Walmart for prescriptions. I'd be willing to pay a little more to go to Walgreens.
