Fox just announced who's in Thursday's debates. There had been some grumblings that Trump would be excluded, but it looks like that's not going to the case.

Anyone else surprised to see they made room for Christie and Kasich? 10 seems...excessive.

You cannot have a debate between 10 participants. You cannot even have a discussion between 10 participants. Hell, you can't even have a meeting with 10 participants.

This is "theater."

I'll check back in about 6 months.

I suspect it'll mostly be a stating of positions in boring round-robin until it gets to Trump, who will say something ridiculous. Rinse-repeat. 10 is way too many.

It's my firm belief that Trump is not running for President. He's here EITHER to enhance the Trump brand, OR because it's beneficial for a Democrat to be in office. He's a distraction, AND he's pulling a "Perot."

We need to weed some of the republican candidates out somehow and this is a good start.

You must have made a typo whereas you probably meant to say ""democrat" as opposed to "republican ".

Politics with our current two party system have become a farce. It is no longer about working together for the betterment of all your constiuents it is about working to get yourself re-elected.

LTC (Join to see), this will be interesting because I don't think Trump actually cares if he's elected, so he'll be a bull in a china shop. Can't stand the guy, but it'll make for some interesting entertainment.

So am I. I'm not a Perry fan, but I think he brings a surprising amount of nuance to the immigration debate and would be a good foil to some of Trump's most flagrant histrionics.

I feel like the candidates are just going to focus on saying something that makes the headlines of the news media the next day. Since they won't be able to get many words in on any of the specific issues.

17 GOP candidates and 10 make a "debate". While I enjoy real debate, what we do in our modern debates is not debate at all. It is a controlled press conference with canned answers to questions by mostly, well rehearsed politicians (both parties primary debates are this way). Everyone is trying to create a great one liner that will catapult them in the polls. There is very little interest or way to have a real debate of any issue with 10 participants.

The value of this "debate" is to see how Trump fares against actual politicians (mostly). Can he hold his ground on geopolitical issues, foreign policy etc. or will he make a number of gaffs? Will Trump take a swing at some of these career politicians that have had a lifetime to get something done and have little to show for it.

It will definitely be bucket of popcorn kind of night.
