Gentlemen, can you recommend a comfortable "dress casual" shoe?

The "research uniform" for my program is an Army-Baylor polo shirt, khakis and brown or black dress shoes. I have some black oxfords but they aren't great for all day wear. I want to find a dress casual shoe that's comfortable enough to wear and move around in. I was thinking maybe Clark's or Rockport. Any other suggestions for a good looking black shoe that won't kill my feet?

CPT (Join to see), don't wear black shoes with khaki pants. Get some brown slip ons, and make sure your belt is brown also.

The reason I was leaning towards black shoes is because the shirts are black. Do you think brown would still be better?

Perhaps black shoes and belt would better with a black shirt, CPT (Join to see). All my black shoes; cap toe oxfords, tasseled loafers, etc., are highly shined and generally worn with suits and/or slacks and blazer, so I don't think of them as casual shoes. Go with the black, but consider a pair of brown also!

I'm partial to Rockport shoes. Nice and comfortable, and lightweight.
As a side note, I bet you have NO IDEA just how much we had to fight in order to get those casual clothes approved for wear while on duty. I helped fight those battles back in the 2007-2008 time frame there at the Academy of Health Sciences.

Thank you, sir. Most of the time I prefer wearing the uniform. It saves me some time getting ready in the morning, but the occasional change of pace will be nice. They said they also help prevent coercion when we're working with the lower enlisted folks down the road.

CPT (Join to see) - We allowed the civilian clothes ("Army-Baylor business casual") in the MHA program because whenever people worked on group projects, we wanted the younger officers to be empowered to speak up and take charge when working with more senior officers. We often had Navy Ensign students in groups with Army LTCs, and everyone had to take turns being a leader and being a follower. Removing the ranks helped, although admittedly, everyone still knew each other's ranks. The causal clothing quickly facilitated a less rank-structured, military environment within the classroom.

I recommend Rockport myself. They have always been the most comfortable and durable, in my opinion. Or, you can always go for the always comfortable military issue patent leathers...lol

You can never go wrong with Coroframs. While I liked a traditionaa Spit Shine. In DC Cororframs as the way to to. We did installations but in DC. Style matter more than Function.

I would not wear those for business. Military parades maybe but not business. Some Executives look at those shoes and make a judgement on the individual wearing them. Self shine shoes are better, in my view.

Nunn and Bush makes a pretty damn good shoe. They can be found in black or brown, slip-on or laces. DSW is a great place to grab those. They have other accessories as well.

Try Durham "Burlington" by New Balance leather shoes made in brown and black (Amazon has them). Like the old Army leather combat boots you have to work the leather a few times with kiwi polish to get the military spit shine but once your there they look really nice. The leather comes somewhat dull like the old Combat boots. If your not into doing the shine work yourself you can probably drop them off at a local shoe shiner to do it for you initially to save yourself time (google shoe shine and your city to find them). In regards to comfort with dress shoes, good luck on much on the interior in regards to comfort, my suggestion is you buy custom Dr Schoals foam inserts for the Durhams with arch support........works fine for me. I think some Walmarts have a custom Dr. Shoals insert measurement machine (google their locations as well). BTW, second favorite brand Cole-Hahn, very stylish casual line that will not bankrupt you. For keeping the shoes shined you can buy a Kiwi shoe shine kit on Amazon with brown and black kiwi and a brush for about $12. Also for all leather shoes you should get shoe trees as well.
