Has there also been a change in the Messaging rules?

Along with Yesterday's change to the Mention rules, did the Messaging rules change also. I am finding, this morning, that I can not PM any one I'm not connected to. I know in the past I have messaged unconnected members to get clarification on post, and to see if we were at some point in time at the same place, before making a connection.

Rick, It would seem like there are a number of thing going on back in the RP back office...and that is not atypical of a technology based company... It may be days or weeks before we know much of anything, if at all...

I have experienced that as well, am trying to determine if I have anyone in my list who is blocking me, inadvertently or otherwise... It they are in one's tag grouping, and a person is blocked, you will get an error message... I am in process of checking out all my tags for different groups...

Sgt (Join to see) - the easiest thing I found to check it was go back a couple of days in my discussions bring one of them up and then hover over all the mentions and see which ones have the connect option available instead of message.

Sgt (Join to see) - it all takes time. At least they should tell you, out of courtesy.

Yes, the messaging rules were changed. The change prevents users from spamming the community with unwanted messages. We've had a lot of that going on here on RP with people getting messages from dating scammers, crude photos, etc. Now you need to be connected with someone to send them private messages.

SSG Carlos Madden - We're not discussing the mention thing in this thread, it's having to connect to message, that I'm disagreeing with.

This is the norm for 99.9% of the community already. I understand it may not be ideal for some but it makes the site more secure for everyone.

I had the same experience, tried to message Joe Davis, but couldn't as we are not connected. Did not want to bother him with a contact request.

If you're not connected to a member you will be unable to tag/mention or message them.

SFC James J. Palmer IV aka "JP4" - Is there a difference in what a connected Vs a non-connected person can see in a members profile?

SFC James J. Palmer IV aka "JP4" - So if I chose not to show those parts to non-connected people it no longer matters because If I wish to ask a single question I have to connect 1st. What happened to My Privacy?

SFC James J. Palmer IV aka "JP4" - that wasn't an answer so much as a deflection, slight of hand.

It may have been the only answer you have but it does not address My concerns. I changed access to allow Verified only, I'm not going to change it to connected only as that will only diminish the availability of some other member to see If I might be someone they wish to connect to and communicate with.
