ABERDEEN PROVING GROUND, Md. (Oct. 20, 2015) -- Army researchers have developed a simple, comfortable, wrap-style respiratory protective mask for protection against riot control agents, and the U.S. Army Edgewood Chemical Biological Center, also known as ECBC, is making it as a simple as putting on a surgical mask.
ECBC researchers Dave Caretti, Dan Barker and Doug Wilke developed the idea for the solution from specialized operators, who expressed a need for a protective mask to protect against riot control agents such as 2-chlorobenzalmalononitrile, also known as CS, or tear gas.
The operators also wanted a mask that could protect users who have beards, or must operate with other unique head-borne equipment.

That looks pretty cool. I hope it works better than the cravat I used out of my 1st Aid Kit.

1stSgt (Join to see), That would be great if they work well. They could be used by chemical plant operators, police and firefighters. That brings up the question if they are fire retardant. I gotta check that out. Nothing was written about being fire retardant. That should be included since fire can be present at anything, especially in combat.

I wore a bandana as a tanker. I guess it stopped half of the dust and sand.

MAJ Ken Landgren, We had to use a bandana when we landed and took off from sandy and dirt areas. It didn't do much for the eyes but we didn't have to suck up the dust.

Our tanks would kick up so much sand and dust it often seemed we were in sand storms.

SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL, Thank you. I think it will be an awesome part of combat gear. As I wrote above, it would be much better if it was fire retardant also.
