You know that LinkedIn is not Facebook. But this means much more than just watching what you post to LinkedIn. In addition to the content you post directly, veterans and cleared job seekers need also to be wary of what they “like” and comment on....

It is a great article and spot on. The only thing that bothered me was missing the military. I got a good job, paid well with good benefits and I knew where my place was. All the vets were treated well and we're some of the most dependable workers. There were a lot of vets there. And when I was at some outing it was a little difficult to talk.

This article is written by a "certified veteran transition coach". What does that mean exactly?

That's a good question, Sir. Coming from a large Corporation, it sounds like a fabricated Title one gives themselves. I'll check it out and get back to you.

I found out that Bob Wheeler, the author, is a 20 yr Navy Veteran that works for, ClearedJobs.net. The Company was Founded in 2001, and is a veteran-owned career site. Bob has quite an impressive resume on LinkedIn and ClearedJobs.net seems to be a legitimate company but I still can't figure out what a Certified Veteran Transition Coach is or how he may have attained that title.

I'm still amazed at how much "they" know about us. I can't even think about how many times I've "liked" a silly picture, especially in these political times. And, to think if I was job hunting that would be used against me, is disconcerting.

PO2 (Join to see) - Susan, I couldn't agree with you more. I've always told my kids be careful what they put on social media because companies you are applying for may view your pages and use the information for reasons not to hire or even fire you.

Even if you did that and the company found out you could be in hot water for lying. It's the new world weather we like it or not. Big Brother is always watching what we are doing. We created this monster now we have to deal with him and make sure we don't put anything on the social media that we wouldn't want out mother's to read. It's that simple.
