As leaders, what inspires you to set the right example and do more for others? Provide an example, if you have one.

What inspires me? I would say setting the example for the future leaders in our military. As lower enlisted military members, we always see those leaders that have an impact on us, whether it be positive or negative. I always want my soldiers to be set up for success first and myself second. I think many Army leaders forget an important line within the Creed of the Non-Commissioned Officer, which is "My two BASIC responsibilities will ALWAYS be upper most in my mind, the accomplishment of my mission and the WELFARE of my soldiers." As they always say, your Soldiers are a direct reflection of their leadership, while the phrase may be coined too much, it should hold some serious weight when leaders take it into mind.

SPC Brady Allen You inspired me by reading a Specialist quote a phrase out of the Creed of the Non-Commissioned Officer. Additionally, you can find those responsibilities in ADRP 6-22 Army Leadership and I'm sure many other publications. The creed is used as an easier way to remind leaders of the many things each of us is responsible for.
I do agree with you on the why I set the example for my Soldiers, because I know I make an impact on them when they reach out to me years after being stationed together asking for advice. It's those type of relationships that keep Soldiers staying in the military making it a better profession.

Thanks for the compliment sir, however, unfortunately used to be an NCO, until some unforeseen circumstances came my way, and unfortunately lost that fight. But, even though I was reduced, it has never meant I stopped being a leader.

It happens to some of the best, but it speaks volumes if you stick with it and continue to try to make the next rank or at least serve honorably until your ETS.

One of the basic principles of leadership taught in the Marine Corps is, you lead from the front....and you take care of the people in your charge. This was ingrained into me......and following that principle has worked well for me, in the military and then later in my civilian endeavors.
