1. Why? 2. It's 3 weeks-normally what the deal?. 3- It's voluntary- you have to show up, but you can refuse to volunteer on day 1. 4. You more than likely will regret it down the road. because of what it will appear as. 5. Why in the hell did you ask for it and now want to waste a school slot?

Voluntary - an inclusive want, need to belong to something, a Brotherhood. Sounds as though armchair warriors have been feeding you bull, if not, don’t think you have what it takes? Think again. How many countless others had second thoughts yet faced whatever demons or ridicule. Listen if a few weeks is too much to dedicate yourself to physical fitness and the ability to be not only an individual, but part of an elite team, then you wouldn’t have wanted to volunteer in the first place. There was a spark, don’t let it go out. There’s nothing more better than walking around with jump wings on your chest screaming out to the world, Yeah, okay, I did it, I’m one of the best trained and dedicated soldiers my nation has to offer. Why settle for second? Airborne!

Don't do it. It's good training and later down the road you'll find the slots don't come easy.

If you want to make the Army a career, dropping airborne would be a mistake. It will open up so many more great assignments for you.
When I was in Germany I had a soldier that quit airborne school on the first day and it also got his special forces group support orders deleted and reassigned. He expressed his regret for doing that.

I know someone who quit Airborne. She was supposed to go to Bragg, but then got reassigned to Hood. She regretted it.

You are on the spot brother I was there and never quit anything they threw at me but also made me a survivor. I ended up doing Country Level Intel Europe and Counter Terrorism. And I have the scars and injuries, but I wear them like a badge not ashamed of them.

I had it in my contract when I enlisted all of those many years ago. I picked my job based on whether I could get it or not, and I had the scores to do anything. Great decision. It opened up many doors for other schools as well. Think long and hard about dropping that one. You follow on duty assignment will still be there.

Airborne school is filled with two vital things. First, students willing to listen, learn, and follow instructions. Second, a world class cadre of professionals committed to your success and safety. Most of the school is focused on developing muscle memory which ensures safety. I spent 21 years begging for Airborne school and finally graduated 20 years from the day I reported to Basic Training. It opens up doors for assignments and will boost your confidence as a Soldier after you’ve defeated one more self-imposed limitation.

You are exactly right Sir. LTC I slid off a 3 story cliff after the military in Atlanta on the Chattahoochee river and went over the heads of my friends below and I blacked out thought I was Dead but they said I went into a perfect Parachute Landing Fall position and hit and rolled and walked away. I was bloody and feet were black and blue for a month... but I walked away.

I wouldn't drop it if I were you. A long time ago, back in 1993 I almost made the decision to get it off my initial contract. God, I'm glad I didn't do it and went through it just fine. Yes, I did stumble a little bit, but it was a great experience to say the least, and learned that sometimes you have to take that "step" into the unknown to get where you need to in life. I don't know your reasons and don't want to know, that's your business. But if you are doing it for the wrong reasons, I would reconsider and just go with it. Yes, it is voluntary, but you're going to be wasting a slot for someone else.

Don't Volunteer. You have to volunteer for jump school. It may be scary to actually do that for some people. But it is literally that easy.
But, I will tell you this...... if you do decide not to at least try. I am sure you will regret it later in life.

I am telling you from experience; don't do it. Like everyone says being AIRBORNE opens so many doors including SPECIAL Operations.

Shelly,
The hardest walk you can make is the walk you make alone. Something inspired you to volunteer for Airborne. This hard walk we're discussing is the walk that makes you the strongest. That is the walk that builds your character the most. To all who are fighting battles alone, to all of you going against the grain, battling the naysayers - stay strong! This walk is hard, but the hardest walks lead to the greatest destinations. The toughest climbs always lead to the best views. It will be worth it in the end. And if you show what you are made of, the right people will show up in your life. You have qualities only a few can admire because most don't possess. You have strength only few can understand, because most have never experienced. Stay true to yourself and never give up! Attend the Airborne School and achieve that which many will fail to do.

Airborne school was a blast and it’s a tough school to get. Don’t pass it; you may never get another chance.

Here is another think Airborne School is the key entry point of Spec Ops Special Forces, Rangers and Navy Seals. Oh and forgot my brothers in Air Force Paramedics that come rescue our dumb asses. Thank you AF buddies. But message is you get Airborne the world of the military opens up to you, but from that point on NEVER

I'll put it this way all you have to say is I quit I'm not doing it and you will NEVER get any Spec Ops training again. but if that is not your deal then get out of it. Airborne and above are for lifetime and a very small brotherhood. And Sisterhood, when I was at Ft. Bragg in Special Forces we were experimenting with integrating Females but that is a very select few and like .001 percent of the nation and yes that is a . in front of the 001

"Airborne", is all voluntary.
When I went to Airborne school, they asked you, morning, afternoon and evening everyday, if you want to quit Jump School. If you said YES, you would be out the next day.
Don't know about if you have a contract, in my days, it's was about your "Word", and that meant something in those days.

You can ship to basic with it, just notify your DS you want to drop it and they'll work up the paper work and bring you in to sign it.
