It starts with having a reason good enough to convince the Commander and CSM who see someone with 18 years invested in a retirement and will otherwise come up with any way at all to have you meet the minimum requirements (50 pts) with minimum inconvenience to you for your last two years.
They may be motivated by altruistic Soldier care, or they may just not want to be on the wrong side of the "Soldier was this close to retirement and the Army just cut them loose" story.
Either way, what they are pushing is just 35 drill points wherever you can make it to, and 15 free membership points per year for the next two years.

They are denying my medical exemption and forcing me out. I have to leave before they try to kick me out with other than honorable.

SSG (Join to see) - If you have a medical reason, that did not get an exemption for continued service, then why wouldn't you pursue a medical discharge?
A medical discharge or medical retirement is typically characterized as honorable.
What else is going on that would cause an OTH?

SSG (Join to see) Does this have to do with covid? If you are being separated for a medical issue the regular Army will not accept you.

One Of The First Actions I'd Take, Is To Locate A Law Firm Who Already Has Successful Records When Dealing With Military Matters.
If You Can't Locate A Good One, Contact Your State Bar Attorney's Association;
They Should Be Able To Be Of Assistance For Your Needs...
NOTE: If At All Possible, Hire A Law FIRM Rather Than A Single Lawyer.
A Firm Has More Trained Attorney's & The Time To Do A Much Better Job For You.
Whereas Individual Lawyers Have Several Projects Going At The Same Time,
And Far Less Time To Spend On Each Clients Issues.

There is a lot of context that is missing here. I left the NG and went back to the regular Army. First, if you can get a release, you will reset all of your time. I had about 10 years worth of service in the NG. Most of it was active. It was condensed to 5 years due to the points I had for service. Your 18 years in the Guard could be less then 10 years in the Regular Army. You may still have 10 years to serve. That is if the regular will take you. A conditional release is only that. It will only release you if the regular Army takes you. If the regular Army didn't need your MOS then your conditional release will be for nothing.

To get a conditional release you will need to get with your commander and he should be able to talk to you about it. It may take months to get one.

SSG (Join to see) - You will not be able to join the regular Army. I have separated a Captain in my unit for not getting the vaccine. I have also initiated separation on several LTs for doing the same. I don't have much sympathy with you on this one. When you joined you were willing to risk your life for this country. That just isn't against bullets. If you are not really to accept the risk in this job then you should be separated. I am a cancer survivor and take meds to keep it suppressed. I got the vaccine and I had no side effects. I am not even sure why the recruiter is trying. It is a waste of time. I hope you enjoy your civilian career. I hope it was worth it.

CPT (Join to see) I never mention I wanted to join the Regular Army. So you're comments are useless regarding that. I never asked and don't need your sympathy...Also, it effects everyone differently and I still have a choice. I chose to sign the dotted line 20 years ago when I joined. I chose to fight for this great country so I should have a choice in what I put in my body. You're dismissed CPT. Thank you but no thank you.

SSG (Join to see) - Thank you, this makes more sense.
Your Commanders (CO, BN, BDE) have no choice in this matter.
This came down from the SECDEF through the service chiefs, to include CNGB.
We knew almost a year ago that those in the Guard/Reserves without a vax or approved exemption will not be authorized for any pay status after 30 JUN 2022.
And those with a denied exemption, and those that simply refuse vax, will be separated. Those in the Guard/Reserves will not accumulate U codes (AWOL), they will simply be auth absence until they get a vax or get their discharge.
If this is what you have heard from you command, then they have already given you all of the answers that exist for this.

Characterization of your discharge is still at the discretion of your BDE CDR and TAG. Most will probably lean towards HD if the Soldier has given them no other reason for an OTH. Don't go out of your way to give them that reason now.

Or you could just get the shot, there is currently no evidence that vaccine ingredients or antibodies made following COVID-19 vaccination would cause any problems with becoming pregnant now or in the future:

I’m with the others in this string that are telling you to serve the 2 years to retirement The long term benefits of military retirement are well worth the effort. Look at it this way you have about 22 more drills plus 30 days of temporary active duty to do in return for a lifetime of retirement pay (after age 60) plus great medical insurance after age 65. If you don’t need this because you’re already a multimillionaire, then go ahead and resign. Otherwise it’s worth it to stay in.

Thanks but I am being forced out because my medical exemption was denied. So I would rather resign than be "fired" so I have no choice but to end it.
