Hello I just joined the National Guard earlier in the summer and my original ship date was supposed to be in August, but the Meps doctors wouldn't clear me so I have to go to my doctor to get a waiver. I already know I can, but after I do that I want to get out of my Guard contract so I can Join the Active Duty Navy. I already tried this back in June but my recruiter and their boss pretty much said no because I had a contract and the Governor expects me to uphold it. So I am on here asking do I have any other options. Again I have not shipped to basic. Thank you for taking the time to read my question.

You took the oath and signed a contract before you cleared MEPS?
If you are contracted, then you need to get a DD Form 368 Conditional Release from the Navy Recruiter and submit it to the chain of command, which is not recruiting. If you are actually in the Guard, you should have been assigned a unit and be drilling with that unit already. The Conditional Release needs to be signed by the first General or his designated representative in that chain of command.

SGT Javier Silva Yes the contract was with the Georgia National Guard and I signed it and now am under it like an active duty contract.

PV2 (Join to see) - Okay. Since you are adamant that it is a contract, the ways to get out are:
1. Finish your contract (usually the fastest)
2. Use a DD368 (Conditional Release) to switch services (GO Approval Required)
3. Become a non-participant at your unit. (Not recommended at all - this usually involves an administrative board)
