I’m very interested in becoming an Aviation Warrant officer, but I’m not sure who I should contact. Some people were saying normal recruiters are not the route to go? Or is warrant officer considered an enlisted.

Thanks

If you want to go aviation warrant, you need to 1.) See a recruiter
2.) Tell them what you want to do, and be persistent. Don’t take no for an answer. The Army missed mission for recruiting for the first time in about 30 years. They need people!
3.) If there’s no program available to go from basic to warrant candidacy, you’ll have to enlist first.
4.) I recommend an aviation specialty, that way you’ll have an edge when you drop a warrant packet.

Hope this helps! I haven’t been a recruiter for a long time, but the basics stay the same.

Go with Colonel Mackay's post on that website. Ignore point three above, only because there is always the street to seat option (but you're welcome to go enlisted first if that's what you really want).
Finding a recruiter that's willing to learn the process if need be and can help you out together a good packet is key. They are picking up a large majority of civilian packets that get through the submission process, so just get it done man. A persistent and tactful not taking no for an answer is the best point above.

CW2 (Join to see) Thank you very much, like I said I’ve been away from the hell that is recruiting for a long time. When I was there, there was no “street to seat” option. Your experience is very welcome!

I saw what was sent just now, and obc do as was suggested...I just sent this as an alternative if only to start, as I'd told you, few know these exist, you're in lick, tour state has a state guard...now, I can't tell you to do it, of course, and it:s ovv your choice, I !eeely suggest as what I think would be a good way to at least get netter grounded, and see if tje life is for you...you can always transition to the Federal side later, as I'd explained, whether Army or another svc, I wish to God I'd known state guards existed before I'd ever gone in, honest...at least look at it, OK?

And if you want to speak with WA ARNG, the aviation units there are all listed on this page, I'm sure with recruiters who could speak with you, apart from the one already suggested....

Your question is obv perceptive, however, you're not king about it in quite the correct fashion, it'll take some time to explain, however, I'll try, OK? All areas in the US have them for all svcs, all recruiting districts do, of course, however, you need to know precisely what to ask, and how to go about it, or you can easily be steered down an unintentiqo path, despite and carried away by your own enthusiasm at times, honest, I'll show you some stuff that you'd find of interest, let me send this, then I'll try to send more, OK?

Can't speak to current practices, but when I enlisted for OCS (1966, graduated 1967) I dealt with an ordinary recruiter. He seemed excited so I imagined that he got some sort of extra points for recruiting a college/law school grad who wanted to go to Infantry School.

No, but I was under the impression that warrant officers don’t need that.

Jonathan Bak - I think flying is competitive and the Army needs discriminators. Can someone confirm or deny this for me?

Do you want to go full-time? Do you want to be in the State National Guard or in the Army Reserve? What state do you live in? I am a Reserve officer in the Army Reserve though I have been the National Guard. What is your goal? What type of helicopter do you want to fly?

Jonathan Bak maybe change one of your identifiers to Fort Lewis to Army recruiting. It would not hurt to check and see who your army recruiter is. Most recruiters are so easy to get ahold of and they have cell phone numbers.

Here is your special forces recruiter. I'm sure there's Special Operations Aviation regiment information is probably well known among the recruiters. Hopefully, they can point you in the right direction.

Here's their site...if you're wanting to do it as warrant, they will definitely have a local chapter by you, as well as a section dealing with flight warrants...also, you shoild try at least going up for a deck ride with a helicopter flight school near you, just if only to get an actap feel of what being in a helicopter is actually like...I've often read that flight for rotary is easier if learned first, then moving to fixed wing...also, if you want to go commissioned Army flight, our have to go Army OCS not WOCS, obv a totally different route, of course, I've seen it mentioned on Jere many times...?
