I was looking it over, and I guess never noticed it before, but my mechanic badge was never added to it. I've asked in different forums on different sites, but all to no avail. Answers either range from "You're screwed." to "Go to your S-1." The latter being KIND OF hard since I'm not in the military anymore haha. Any guidance on which way to go with this would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks!

How to request a DD 215 (correction to DD 214):
https://www.hrc.army.mil/TAGD/Correction%20to%20Veterans%20Military%20Records

You'll need the supporting documentation, but it is doable.

Write to HQ ARMY MILPERCEN, provide the data on the award and ask for a DD-215...a corrected DD-214.

You would need to submit a DD 215 (Correction to DD 214) form. It would obviously help if you have supporting documentation such as an award citation and possibly references from the officer who signed/presented you the award.

That's the thing it was never awarded it, I was MEDEVAC'd out of country, and when I looked up the award description I met the requirements. I have counseling statements that show record of work and services done by my NCO at the time. Obviously I don't want to put anything on my shadowbox uniform I didn't "rightfully earn."

In that case, it would be really difficult. Not impossible, but difficult. From what I remember (and please don't take this as gospel) you would need written statements from your NCO's and Officers (if you're still in contact with them) and whoever has authority to approve the award could write up an award citation, or recommend that you be awarded it. Then you would submit the DD 215 to get it added to your official DD 214.

PO1 John Miller - This pretty much summarize it! Someone with approval authority must award it to you post service then and only then add it via DD215. Indeed very hard.
