Many non-military people believe the Military personnel are automatons… no feels, not opinions, no voice. Of course, they are wrong. EVERY sailor, marine, airman, and soldier has ever right to question, rebuke, and disagree with statements and actions of any person elected to public office. Not disobeying orders, not overt actions to undermine policy, but voice one’s opinion. If you didn’t disagree and speak out against the meaningless deaths of our Brothers and Sisters 29 Aug 2021, you are complicit in their deaths. Those actions by the President and VIP, as well as the leadership of the US Military was unconscionable. The fact that no one was held accountable speaks volumes to our current state as a Military Power. I spoke out against it, contacted my Congress members, and am actively working to remove the Party that allows those actions on 5 November 2024. For a military member to support that party makes no sense… yet many on here will use race or gender to pretend there’s something good about that party… there isn’t. Speak out, speak often, but chastise the person and not the position.

Critizing is fine. Blatant disrespect is different. But there is a line in which service members can't cross when speaking publically about leadership. Now once a person is out of an office or out of the change of command. Go forth speak what you will.

Soilders mostly lose that right along with other political privileges. You joined, signed and took an oath that in my day had consequences. Now? Too many whiners, entitled idiots and too many reservists.

If the criticism is warranted and they are not using or wearing their uniform to do it, I will not have much of a problem with it. In general, however, soldiers should stay out of public protests as long as they are serving an oath to their nation that prohibits them from making an ass of themselves and the uniform they wear on TV.

This should never happen, You should support whoever’s in office no matter what the affiliation. And in Uniform, this should be a sign of treason.

The Commander in Chief has abandoned the veterans because "it's all about the money"! Illegal aliens getting benefits support while veterans benefits are difficult to qualify for benefits they earned.

My hard and fast rule is you don't have to like the man in the office, but you damn well better respect the office. Anything else is unacceptable. It really is just that simple.

My son is still in. During the first Trump election, the company commander addressed the company and suggested to everyone they they delete their FB, Twitter and any other social media accounts. He did. He’s still in, promoted to SFC, on recruiting duty. I retired in 2004, I try not to make comments but at 72, someone has to.

It is truly unprofessional. However there is a thin line between that and following blindly. if something is criminal or dangerous then it becomes a responsibility. I served for years. If the system around the President fails to inform him there is a probably this is bigger problem. Problem with the strategy/tactics in S. Vietnam let to losing not only the war but the US way and downgrading our country and system of government. It would have gone a lot better had LBJ actually known the effects of some of the policies. He may have realized at the end there was a problem. His acceptance of this and seeking an improvement would have been a lot better. Rationalizing and turning over the problem to someone else is no solution. Solutions are needed in all problems, not hyperbolic words. A bad solution just leads to a fascist or autocratic administration and bigger problems.

Those who have a mind of their own who can see what is happening to our great country, those should never be disparaged against. It is argued that our president does not know what he is doing... don't hold it against current or former personnel of what a single individual (or group of people) are attempting to do to this country by tearing down the very fabric of what they fight for. It just isn't fair for a leader to do that to his followers. If he (or she) cannot lead why speak against those who have a brain?
