In this I mean personally, have you learned more made new friends, gained a better understanding of your sister service?

Mines: Since I been here in RP, I found myself to be somewhat the same way as I was in the military again. I always kept quite, didn't communicate too much with any one, but have come to know many very wonderful SM and veterans in all branches. I have been very thankful to all those in RP for creating this site because it has become a part of my daily activities and things to check. For me many new and great things have happen in my life that without Rally point would have never been possible.

Since leaving active duty a few months ago, this keeps me plugged in between drills.  It's also great to be able to get answers or feedback from others while helping others and learning from others.

I feel like I have gained some perspective and some confidence through the discussions. It is nice that I can share my opinions that seem to be similar to many who are more experienced than I am. It is also great to see how many approach certain issues, which has provided me with an example to follow in order to not get stuck in my own habits and really evaluate what the situation truly needs. I feel like the majority of the members on this site are those who are dedicated to the needs of the service and really want to make things work well...even when our hands are tied by regulations or policies that hinder the appropriate response.

I am pretty much the same as I was while I was in the Army. I will voice my opinions as I am entitled to do, but know this, I do my research on the topics I am passionate about. If you don't like my opinion then you have the right to debate the ideas with me. What I find aggravating is that several people have taken the opportunity to make me feel stupid when they are responding to my posts. I am considerate to others as the expectations of these discussion threads want us to be. Due me the courtesy of voting me down and supplying me with a reason other than "you are an idiot". I have made many new contacts and have come to consider some of them friends, I appreciate and respect the responses given by all of you because it helps me to grow and learn. I also just realized that in just over 14 years I will be as tall as I will be old; 65 inches tall and 65 years old. Damn where did the time go.

Oh well, that just means that I will no longer be able to stand up straight anymore. Not that I can do that very often any more.

I don't think I have changed too much, however, I do appreciate the adult conversations we can have here! So many times I try to have discussions and people get offended easily and we get off subject. Here, it's a breath of fresh air to meet and chat with people from all over and get different perspectives!

Gained other service insight and understanding, not to mention the professionalism that I would hope all service members I would hope represent. Most who communicate through RP seem to have weighed in on their career because they honestly care about their service.

I haven't exactly changed much, but is is nice to be able to have debates with other professionals. Also, I've recieved a lot of great advice and support that I'm sure will keep me headed in the right direction in my military career.

UPDATE:

Since a thread was already made on this that is pretty much the same, I thought I post it here and just keep this as a survey only.

But since that posting if anything has changed, it would be great to know :)

SSG Pablon,

Curiously, I have started thinking more about retiring and writing my memoires. While I just did the next obvious thing needing doing, others find it interesting. I never thought much about it, but I witnessed a lot of very interesting history. I am getting rather long in the tooth. Time to settle down, stop working so hard to kill myself, slow down and take some time to enjoy life.

Warmest Regards, Sandy ( http://www.linkedin.com/in/armynurse )
