I’m national guard, young, low ranking, but desperately want to deploy immediately, before College. Thank you!

Somebody refresh my recall, doesn't the National Guardsmen deploy only when DOD activated the unit? If that is the case, I believe as I have seen on the trend posts you may have to research the procedure to transfer to active duty. And you may need to verify if your guard training equals actual bootcamp training. I wish you well with your desire and decision PV2 (Join to see)

I’ve been to BCT, that wouldn’t impact my transfer to Active Duty. It’s difficult to rewrite contracts, from what I hear. I’m genuinely not sure when NG is deployed, I didn’t think it was only under certain times of distress.

PV2 (Join to see) - yes, I recall DOD activated for war engagements and yes, the guard is a readiness for national emergencies. Can your National Guard Headquarters provide a counselor that can help you get correct information specific to your career desire?

Deploying National Guard units often seek fillers from units. I was in a North Carolina unit and we had fillers from several other states.

said SM can "PCS" to another National guard unit in a different state to a unit that is deploying as long as they have the position for said SM. It's a lot more complex with more strings attached than I'm making it sound.

Don't think of it as "before college". I completed most of my degree while deployed. The answer to your question about deployments has to do with your unit's OPTEMPO and their deployment schedule.

Really? Hm. That’s something I should look up on. I was planning on deploying after I got my degree, but I think right now is definitely a time that I want to go.

Good luck at that too. Not saying it's impossible, but I've also seen people have a hard time going active. PV2 (Join to see) -

I don't know, "What's war like if you're afraid of getting shot"? Bravery is overcoming fear. Overcome it!

National Guard Bureau has a web site called Tour of Duty. It will show units in the Guard that need fillers by rank and MOS. http://arng.ng.mil/resources/Soldier-Resources/Pages/Guard-Tours.aspx

Tour of Duty. MOBCOP. Get with your Chain to ask your S3 if there are MOB opportunities asking for your MOS and rank. Also, you can change your Volunteer Status in your HRC profile.
