First of all congratulations and welcome to the team. All duty stations are what you make of them. I was last stationed at Fort Drum and to say I heard anything positive about it would be a lie. So if you struggle with deciding a duty station remember you and your thoughts are what make it.

I have been a 15P for soon to be 5 years and my first duty station was Ft. Wainwright, AK and I spent 9 months at Camp Humphreys Korea and now I am currently station at Wheeler Airfield Hawaii. I highly recommend Alaska if you get the chance. Its a beautiful place and unique experience you cant get elsewhere.

I have been lucky enough to spend almost 20 years in army aviation as crew chief, mechanic and hydraulic specialist. I finished as a technical inspector for an AVIM support section after which I was hired as a contractor to continue working in the field. Looking back i would not change a thing. My last duty station was with the 101st which has a very large aviation wing. While the work load was extreme when deployed, it was also very rewarding. We were lucky enough to have very good officers and NCOs that understood the amount work and took care of the troops exceptionally well. I was never with the 10th Mountain but we relieved them on deployments a few times and they seemed like an outstanding unit overall. I can say the 1st Cav and 101st were both great units to be assigned to for aviation. As with any job in the Army, it is as good or as bad as you make it.
