I've noticed we've got a lot of Harley and Motorcycle riding veterans, retirees, and active duty personnel here on RallyPoint.

UPDATE: AUGUST IS PAST - I'M SHOOTING FOR A RALLY ON 2017 (SPRING OR SUMMER)! I'LL UPDATE THIS POST WHEN SPRING ARRIVES HERE IN COLORADO! THANKS!

What are your thoughts about putting together a rally and ride somewhere centrally located in the USA, so we could all meet up during the month of August 2016 or September 2016 for 5 to 6 days of riding, etc. Send your thoughts, a location, and a picture of your bike

That would be cool to put together. Hey, if you ride a Harley, I looked at one and I have heard that the engines don't last, is there any truth to that? Please help me on this question.

PV2 Bengie Gonzalz LMHC Every Harley engine I've ever had has long outlasted me! As long as you do your regular maintenance on them, they'll last forever. I know a lot of riders who have very high-mileage Harleys that are still running just fine.

I was impressed with how balance the 2015 is and is water cooled.

PV2 Bengie Gonzalz LMHC I never had any issues with Harley engines for any of the bikes that I've owned. This new 2015 CVO Road Glide Ultra has been nothing but awesome for the last year and over 10,000 miles - not one performance issue!

COL Mikel J. Burroughs - Mikel; As one of those motorcycle riders, I'm glad that you recognize the difference between a motorcycle and a "Harley".

Possibly a regional thing? I can't ride anymore but my wife could cage me someplace for a meet and greet with our RallyPoint folks.

SFC Wade W. We can always use a a couple of trail vehicles for maintenance and emergencies in the area we pick - it would be great to have as many as possible there!

I added the Patriot Guard group tag (I didn't even know we had that in the database). Hopefully some of these members will join.

I would love to do it. But of of corse the when and where play a big role in if I'm actually able to participate.

I'd love to ride, it kind of just depends on how I'm doing physically. I live in Maryland, but am from Oklahoma and my Mom still lives in Bartlesville. So I could always trailer the trike out there and meet up in the region pretty easily.

The whole area around Ouachita National Forest, from Sallisaw and Poteau, OK, over to Hot Springs, AR and around in there is a gorgeous area and shouldn't be too hot in August. I think the Talimena National Scenic Byway is in that area. Some interesting places to visit, like the Heavener Runestone. Good rides around Grand Lake of the Cherokees. Beavers Bend should have some good rides. [Note: I've never ridden my bike on any of these - just remember them from my childhood travels.]

I also love the rides on the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive, all the way from Front Royal, MD down into southern North Carolina / Nothern Georgia. Those are the areas I'm most familiar with.

COL Mikel J. Burroughs I'm in. How about Phoenix? It's only 127 degrees in the shade in August, the hotel rates are cheap, and we can all ride naked (helmets optional)!

I've spent too much time in Phoenix in August. Naked isn't enough - it's just too da**ed hot! And that whole "dry heat" argument is b.s. - just like the dry heat in an oven! I was sitting in front of my motel one day at 117 with the misters going and saw a rider pull up in full leathers. Asked him how he could do it and he just shrugged his shoulders and said, "You get used to it, I guess." No, you don't.

Looking good there COL Mikel J. Burroughs. While I gave up bike riding, its a great idea. I am thinking you will have a lot of success with it. Should be interesting to post some pics and updates when its all said and done.

COL Mikel J. Burroughs, I don't know how central it is to most members here but lots of folks come to Tennessee to ride "The Dragon" and some of the other roads around Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg and across the mountain into Hot Springs NC. If you get tired of riding (as if that's possible! lol), the area has a ton of activities and attractions to stop at.
