I was doing field rotation that had open showers and had a thought about Transgender personell and how the be treated by other personell. I talked to a female an she said she upset if transwomen in her shower if they still had there male genitals. I asked a male the same thing and he said he wouldn't care. He said "If they identify as a man I will treat them like a man". How would you personally feel about this.

ADMIN NOTE: Be respectful to other RP members who may be in the transgender community.

Well, generally, about the "Cultural" transition taking place in the military, my granddaughter got pregnant in basic training. I don't remember anyone getting pregnant when I was in basic training during the Vietnam era. Not sure how getting pregnant helps the mission readiness obligation.

Basically, they'll push it until women file sexual harassment suits for forcing them to shower with men.

I was at Fort Benning (Yes I know there was a name change) doing the expert Field Medical Badge in the middle of summer. After a week in the field with no showers, we had a rain storm after the duty day. I was out in the rain, nude taking a shower then back n the tent drying off before I realized the two females near me in the tent were still out in the rain, naked. My response was F*%& it and I just kept getting dressed. The truth is after a few field trips with no amenities, no one really cares about that. Although if you see someone giving someone grief about something like that you need to offer to kick their rear. I was in Kosovo and Iraq with females covering my ass and I would have been extremely upset if anyone harassed them. They had my ass when bullets were flying and I felt and still do) it was my duty to cover them if someone was bothering them. In Iraq sexually haassing a teammate would have gotten yu fragged.

To be blunt
There are a lot of answers but no solutions.
The correct answer, and what you will see, for all of the Officers and SGMs is that the Army will treat the individual as their DEERS identify gender. To treat them with dignity and respect and that a transgender vs cisgender are equally as important.
However, all of this means nothing because it never answers the question you asked. What is the solution to real life situations that happen.
In the past the Women had to make accommodations for themselves while deployed as the Army did not have the solution, logistically, while deployed. In many situations the Army is still not equipped for men and women to deploy together unless on an established base.
With that said, a man and a woman have NEVER been approved to shower together. As a Christian, I can't see how showering with someone who is biologically a female is appropriate.
I also know this would be true with most religions we find in the military.

In short, I believe most of us relate too the two individuals in your statement. We would treat the transgender service member respectfully but we would be uncomfortable.

Long, long time ago, while awaiting Ralphie to shoot his eye out... Yes that far back, it was either Germany, or Ft. Carson, and the "other A&P"{Adult} magazines weren't allowed for "study" down range. I was perusing an article in either JAMA, Lancet, NEJM, Psychology Today; anyhow This is in the 1980's now: I read that the "homosexual community" had a distrust of the following "groups" for these reasons:
1: Bi-Sexuals = The inability to decide if they were Straight of Homosexual... lack of commitment to one lifestyle or the other.
2: Gender dysphoria/Trans: Liars... "Cogito; ergo sum" does not apply to biology; no, it doesn't:
"I was born as an ???, but I think I am a ???.... but I'm not gay/lesbian".... [REALY]
This was published in the 1980's, and was reflected in AR 40-501, Chap 2 up until the current administration... It's no there anymore, you'll have o find a hard copy printed prior to...

The pressures the radical "alphabet" community is putting on the heterosexual norms that have existed for millennia is yet to be realized, but they will continue to deny that they are responsible for the destruction of Judeo-Christian morays. Coming to terms with "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" was one thing, easily delt with, ignore... Acceptance of Trans individuals as "norms" will be,,, {We live in interesting times}... I hate that curse.
