It looks a little odd to me. What we went with in Aviation was to place numerals on the ribbon when we ran out of room with the leaves. Don’t know what the numeral rules are with other ribbons, but my air medal looks just fine with the numeral 30. It doesn’t take math to read my number. This way the V also fits.

All that and a buck fifty get you a cup of coffee. Retired and living the dream. You earned them and that's all that counts. Hooah

I would think the way you have displayed your very impressive rack is correct. I know from past experience that the military does not allow (I think this is how I remember it.) or encourage wearing duplicates of the same basic award, hence devices are used to signify multiple awards or higher value awards. Therefore, with 3 OLC and one V device, an observer of this ribbon rack would recognize that 4 awards were earned one of which was valorous.

It would seem the rule of 4 is correct, so a second ribbon would be required. However, I haven't read anything that says you could not wear the first ribbon with the V device and the second with the 4 oak leaf clusters.

Whatever the award only one ribbon is authorized to be worn and any devices will be attached ONLY to the ONE ribbon. NEVER is a duplicate to a basic ribbon to be worn. There are no exceptions ! There would only be a maximum of FOUR (4) devices on any ribbon be they service stars, Oak Leave clusters or V for Valor device. In the case for example of a 5th Oak leaf cluster, four gold devices would be replaced by a single silver Oak leaf and once again no more than Four may be worn.

Maybe in the AF, but that guy is in the Army. You can wear two ribbons if necessary in the Army, but it is super uncommon.

SMSgt Lawrence McCarter David Hackworth had 10 Silver Stars. He wore the ribbon with 1 silver OCL and 3 bronze OLC (9 awards) and a second Silver Star ribbon for his 10th award. The second ribbon is justified because only four accoutrements are allowed per ribbon according to Army regs.

SGT (Join to see) - I just checked AR670-1, 22-11, which states once the maximum 4 devices are attached a second ribbon is authorized to display additional devices. The bottom line, is Yes You are correct. It is rare though as You have said and I've never seen it Myself but I learned something anyway.
