Here's the background. You're a senior E5. Your troops are in formation and you're handing out work for the day. You hand out an assignment to a fresh E2 with less than a year in and only a few months at your command. They blatantly complain and tell you to choose someone else. You calmly tell them they will do this task and they tell you to shove it and give it to someone else. How do you react?

That fact that this question is being asked shows how far the military has slipped.

Seems old school way the best. Immediate assignment to meet behind sick bay soon to be followed by an assignment to a duty station on a rack in sick bay. Of course announcing the sick bay rack assignment at morning formation. Not my corporate response, my late 60's early 70's duty response.

Send him to the barracks. Tell him to wait. Handle the rest 0f the squad, and get them moving for the day. Then when you go to confront him, assign him to the worst shit detail you have for a week. If he squacks, offer him an article 15 and 30 days confined to base and 30 days AND that shit detail he squacked about.

Smash him emotionally bringing up specific weaknesses like failing an apft or falling out of runs.
