Here's the background. You're a senior E5. Your troops are in formation and you're handing out work for the day. You hand out an assignment to a fresh E2 with less than a year in and only a few months at your command. They blatantly complain and tell you to choose someone else. You calmly tell them they will do this task and they tell you to shove it and give it to someone else. How do you react?

First off I've not encountered this type of misconduct in the 6 years off my service before my medical discharge... That being said, there's no excuse for their behavior, and would be in serious need of reprimand. Just plain old physical exertion would not be enough to impress the importance of the chain of command. Its my belief that an article 15 would just be starters for docked pay exta-duty and re education on the chain of command would be in orderand up to a court martial if the issue persists. So for starters. Its 10 pushups for each soldier in attendance (battery size) platoon size would be 20 each xtra pt, kp, and guard duty as well as a written apology for each soldier for the blatant lack of dicipline and to put in the paperwork to strip them of rank.

My belief is that while you are in the military you depend on your brothers, you depend on everyone doing their job you're only as strong as the weakest link. Right. So you make that duty his for the next 6 months then you give him something else not to mention you make sure that the rest of the team, squad, platoon what have make sure they understand how teamwork has succeeded or failed, in this example the team, squad, platoon has failed so therefore the team, squad, or platoon should be punished as one

If he is telling you he isn't capable or skilled enough to do something then maybe ask why are you refusing this order

Write him up and get rid of him. No room for insubordinate behavior
